Ah Rustler! Whats wrong with a little hard work! lol Granted you don't here or see many people my age talking about pulling a Harrow behind a horse! LOL I think I was born into the wrong era. I do plan on getting a tractor, but that wont be for a few more years. And yes it would be much less work, but I kinda like doing things the old hard way. Guess Im a glutin for punishment!

But then again... I already feed these critters, why not make them work a little?

Sorry to hear of yer troubles and hope yer OK !!!!
Ya know they got these nifty new contraptions called tractors that can pull that harrow. Tractors don't have a mind of thier own and will only do what ya tell em to do. Also if ya got one of them there tractors ya only gots ta feed it when ya wanna use it.

Hallerlake, the Evergreen Fair in Monroe doesn't open until Thursday this week, Aug 26th. So yes, you wouldn't want to go before then!!!

Okay, I meant should I wait until Tuesday for the poultry show to go? I need more caffeine.

Well if it were me, I'd go early on Thursday to see the 4-H birds (cause it's free admission until 1:00) and then I'd go again on Tuesday for the Open Class show!

One of my reasons for going is to find out who the local breeders are for future reference. Will I be able to get that information on Thursday or should I wait until Tuesday? Monroe is not really close enough to want to go twice.

Will the fair have coops, etc. to look at ?

Thank you Russ for the link. I wish I could go, but I know that I am going to be knee deep in flowers from Thursday on.

I like Lifehouse. Darn it, I may be an old lady, but my kids have great taste in music, and they shared really well with me.

anyone going to enter in their chickens or just check out the puyallup fair next month? I'm thinking going to check it out. I didn't end up going to the SW Washington fair (Chehalis) last week, but mom was there and said there were lots of chickens and that I should have gone. Anyway, the Puyallup fair tends to be cooler anyway, from what I've heard.

The Puyallup fair weather is different nearly every year. It is the Northwest, and either it will rain or it can be 95 out. lol I may have a few chickens in the fair. It will depend on the neighbor kid, again. I will let you know when I find out for sure.

Well you can find both 4-H breeders and non 4-H breeders. Open Class has actual adults showing, although kids can show too. 4-H is just kids. But some of the kids do a great job and do open class shows as well. So I guess it is up to you. I'm not sure how many birds will be in the Open Class show, or how many people have entered, I only know the 4-H stuff. I guess it is up to you!

There are a few coops on display, I think there was one by the petting zoo last year available by raffle ticket, and then there are a couple on display in the agricultural display area kind of between the Goats/Pigs/Sheep barns and the Poultry & Rabbit barn, by the covered arena. HTH!!!
