I'm from the Tri-cities, just started the final two years of my BSN, and I raise/show silkies, white runners, and geese.

I do process my own birds, and up until last year I had Buff Americans as meat birds/pasture weeders. Sold them in order to concentrate on fancier goose breeds, from which culls will be just as delicious.

I've always loved chickens, the sounds they make relax me and I enjoy watching their antics. Gentle and calm breeds of the birds I raise tend to be my favorite.

I actually do have a bunch of silkies available right now, some really nice adolescents in black and buff, some chicks (age 1 week through 6 weeks) in white, buff, blue, black, and lavender.

If you're interested it would be pickup only at this time, as it's still a bit warm on and off to ship. I am also headed near Portland tomorrow to pick something up, and could meet along the way. Chicks without any DQ's are $10 up to three weeks, after that are $12. Adolescents are $15- some of these have an extra toe on one foot (in black) but are otherwise excellent specimens that I wouldn't hesitate to use for breeding- these are late April hatch birds. I do know of a couple cockerels because they are crowing, and the rest I won't hazard a guess on except to say they haven't crowed or laid an egg to date.

I also have two pairs of Saxony ducks. They are from Kevin Noorlander stock, I raised them on eggs I won in a raffle at the Stevenson, WA show this spring. May hatch. A lady who got some from me who has Holderread line Saxonys really likes them. I don't know much about Saxonys, but they are entertaining ducks.

I am looking forward to the Stevenson, WA and Montana shows this fall, and the Chehalis show in winter. I hope some of you make it to one or all, I would love to meet you. I'll be the gal curled up with a Nursing Theory book behind cages of silkies. Really, try to make it to a show, they are SO much fun.

What your immunal system sees as a threat is anyone's guess, the best thing to do is come, then eat LOCAL honey in and on all your food: It will prepare your immunal system for the pollems available here.

I get hay fever in late June. It's mostly grass pollen. I don't really have much of allergies this time of year. There are lots of trees so if you have a problem with tree pollen, springtime might be bad...

What seems to bother me the most is the firs when they pollen out, but I have a hyper sensitive immunal system and it goes off and almost kills me most times.
I have to snort a steroid in my mouth (inhaler) to keep my immunal system from gleaning all the membrane off my airways/throat/naso-pharengreal system...like streph-throat on massive styeroids, and it is your immunal system that rapes your throat/sinus/nasal-pharengeal areas (the part from the nose to the throat)
In a heart beat, my immunal system can strangle me, it is hyper active, and I carry an epi-pen, which I get from the pharmacy, via the ten- or- more allergists I have joined my life with...
the point is, you need to acclimate your immunal system to the bacteria/pollen/fungus/disease/etc in that area...and if you are comprimised in some way, deal with it.
This is the most wonderful, most beautiful, and by far the most CLEAN place you will ever live.
And no tornadoes !
I really think the honey is the way to go for you !

My beloved DH who is a retired MR GOODWRENCH says it sounds like bad battery or maybe battery cables are corroided and you need to disconnect them, wash with baking soda and hot water and reconnect to a new or at least vibrant battery.
Seriously, Gary is thee Mr goodwrench.
Call him for help if you need to, he can diagnose over the phone...we have teased him about it for years his # is 707-478-1980 best wishes !!!!!!!!
