Monica, use the boxes. We must have brought 10 boxes with us to fair. We only have 2-3 cat carriers and the big guys don't fit in there.

We always clean their feet well scrubbing gently with a toothbrush in warm soapy water.

We only actually bath the white birds or lighter birds who need it.

Double and triple check for mites before you go. They won't let them in if they have them. If they aren't going in today and you do find mites, spary them with a dog flea and tick spray, like Hartz or Adams. But don't take in a wet bird, they can't do the mite check on a wet bird.

I say bring the little Mille, worst case is he will be DQ'd, but probably not likely.

Bring a bottle of Wet Wipes with you, incase they get poopy on the ride, you can clean them up when you get there.

Most of all, Have Fun!!!

Well, I do not know what is going on with my hen...but she is very sick. She has now had 24 hours of antibiotics. I am having to force feed a high caloric diet and electrolytes to her. She is barely moving and her eyes are closed. I swear she has a fever. She is NOT around my other birds and, in fact, they look fine. I am the only one touching the sick bird (washing hands VERY-VERY WELL) but hubby is doing rest of birds to minimize possible cross-contamination. Sometimes I just wonder if I am delaying the inevitable? We have no clue what is wrong with her, virus or did she get into something? do not know. I feel bad for her.

Whoa people are having terrible predator problems.

If that happened yesterday, I would go insane with panic and depression, as my only Tolbunt Polish pullet went missing for almost 10 hours. All I had was a lonely Tolbunt cockerel, who luckily found her for me in the end. . . . I was SO worried, thinking that if a predator got her, I'd be killing any coyote, raccoon, or other such that ever touched the property. I really was no happy.

. . . . Now I have FINALLY done the sensible thing of keeping my Tolbunts penned up in a large run, completely proofed of even small chicks. And of course at night, they get locked in a raised coop.
