Marans indeed.

The barred ones are called Cuckoo Marans - They're the common hatchery variety, and lay SAD colored eggs.

Yes, the white fluff I'm talking about is on the tail. It is basically his undercoat showing through.

I'll have Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Marans pullets available late winter.

LOL My brain is a bit fried today. Chloe has been on a rampage ALL day, refuses to go down for her nap, and is into EVERYTHING!!!

Trying to clean her messes, do laundry, deal with barking dogs, still gotta clean the kitchen, bathroom, and of course pick up all chloes toys scattered around. lol

So yeah, I couldnt spell cuckoo. lol I was gonna spell it coocoo, or cucu. lol Did I forget to warn you all that I could not spell if it meant saving my life. lol As hard as I try, I just can't seem to get every word. lol

these were the last of this summer, (laying all through the winter, 11 months in a row) and now the last 3 weeks have been zero eggs due to a super-molt-a-rama going on.
When they begin to lay again, the eggs will be much darker than these...

here is a few divas after DH's lunch.
They are ugly as chickens go, boring...but I love them.
These are browner than the hatchery birds I have seen, which are pure white and jet black stripes like a barred rock...these are not like that, they have a silvery neck feather and more mottled feather rather than severe baring.
They are a kick in the pants, healthy, personable, and lay jumbo dark eggs.
By now they are a bit pale compared to when they start up lay again.
They are here because I love them, and everyone enjoys their wonderful eggs to eat ! :lol

She needs to go to early chiclhood care, preschool, bible preschool or somewhere to run off energy and socialize with other non-stop-rug rats !!!
The need to interact and learn how to behave, not having another kid be mean or bossy or cruel, that is how they learn.
Gives you some time off too, or you could volunteer a few hours...co-op?
If you had a big cage you could do daycare, put them all in the cage and let them fight it out !!

I would slit my throat if I had to work at a daycare...or drive a school bus, or be a teacher of younger kids...those people with the love and pateince to care for, teach, and be constantly abused by kids, have my deep admiration...and I still think you have to be cuckoo to drive a school bus or teach !

Re: Childcare, teaching etc....I have made it quite clear to my kids' teachers, etc, that I would last 1 day as a teacher. I would be found (at the end of the day), in the corner, in the fetal position, rocking, sucking my thumb and muttering incoherently. All the children would be wrapped in duct tape from head to toe....all that you would be able to see would be eyeballs, noses, fingers and toes. It takes a special person to do those jobs....and I am NOT one of them. God bless thos of you tht can.

Unfortunately I have another year to wait before she can do any type of pre-school. Toddlers have to be 3 in order to go. At least in a public setting. And we just can't afford a private setting. You are right though, she does need to be around children her age.

It is raining so bad and the wind is getting so wild that the ONLY place my Polish have to go for cover is their coop. . . Even though I have a whole porch covered for protection from the rain. . . Apparently it isn't covered enough, because it's a flooded mess now.

And to make matters worse, my coop is tiny. It's a temporary place, really - It's a parrot cage. So, if I were to ever stuff another hen in there, it would be "stuffing" a hen in there, literally. . . I need an actual coop for them.

Sometimes I am so glad mine are grown !!!
I barely held together in my 20s-30s with kids !!!!!!!!!!!!
All I wanted to do was ride my Harley and be gone.
I worked up to 2 jobs, day and swing and HATED having to stay home with kids on my ONEDAYOFF!!!!!
Especially when DH (at the time) was out on his hog...
I love my kids BUT
I agree! Duct tape is the way to go !!!

My son asked me last year when my grandson was born: Mom, wanna change a diaper??
I said are you out of your freaking mind ????????????????????????????

Why would ANYONE in the world WANT to change a diaper ????

Same with the school bus driver with kids shooting the back of her head with spitballs

while she is trying to manuever the giant bus through traffic....pulling hair and fighting...why are there no seat belts on a school bus anyway ???

I feel sorry for you Cheryl, but you gotta do it just like the rest of us.

And some of us never learn, we have more and more and that is why we have over population.

Illia, maybe what I have is Blue Birchen Ameraucana !

The neck hackle that is appearing on two boys is V shaped, (like a barnsvelder)with a dark stripe in the middle
and cream colored, I cannot waite to see what my purebred Ameraucanas are going to actually be.
Jean's babies indeed.
I don't think so.
I guess I better contact my egg seller and see whats up here ?

Trust me, gold leakage in Blue Ameraucanas can be a common problem to run across with some breeders. I've got the same problem with my Blue/Black/Splash Araucanas, which means I'm just not going to breed them for selling until/unless I get some new stock to improve or replace them.
