Heather,

I may have another female available in the next month or so. I'll be in touch after the shows this month and after I get a chance to go through the birds and decide which ones I want to keep.

I have 15 and only want to keep 7 or 8.

That sounds good. I'm really just wanting another female or two...I have decided to keep one of my three ganders, though...are you going to Stevenson?

Thank you!

I do not know who it is , but someone out here has tons of seabrights, there were 15 cages of them at the fair here...practically nothing but.
I may be able to track down the 4 H people out here and see who it is...want me to ?
They had every flavor you could think of...

Another story of the bizarre...the 20 Ameraucana in the back pen started in squawking and running in what we call typical "chicken football" where one has a treat and the others try to tackle it and steal the treasure...and DH called me to come see...what in the world, but a pullet had a mouse !
Dangling by the tail and still alive !!!
We had to go in and threaten her with a broom to get her to drop the nasty beastie !
Needless to say, they all wanted it and it took some time to get the mousie, and it was very dead by the time I got it and dumped it in the trash burner...who needs a cat ?
I will always give Chlorinated water though...I wondered how they can get sick not even free ranging, but outside none the less...I wish I would have been there to watch them all stalking and catching the mouse in the first place..poor mouse.
I have told DH that if I disapear, he is to come to the back Am pen with the 20 4 mo old birds in it, as if you so much as trip and go down, there will be nothing left of you but bones and rubber gum boots in mere minutes.
They are like pirahnas in there !

The 18 PBRs I raised and sold last spring got ahold of a 12-14" snake and did the same thing, then swallowed it down like a thick piece of spaghetti, wow...live snake gone in seconds.
Well, off to work !

Blue Wheatens are also a standard, recognized colors. Blue Wheaten works in the same way Blue does. You can breed them to Wheatens or even Splash Wheatens, and all will be fine. I've got two Blue Wheaten pullets and two Wheaten pullets, and no matter what type of Wheaten cockerel I have, all is good.

I like the look ofthe BW but my husband says that the color blue doesnt work on chickens... But he does like the Wheaton colors. lol He drives me nuts some times, but love him anyway. lol So if I was to get wheaton and blue wheaton hens, what would the wheaton cock over the blue wheaton hens give me? 50/50 W/BW? Or would there be some other color that would "pop" up?

Splash wheaton hens are missing the black or blue wing and tail feathers correct? Is there an Ameraucana book that I could purchase to use as a quik reference? Or is the quikest/easiest source of information here online?

Now you have me leaning torwards a flock of Wheaton and Blue Wheaton. lol But with a Wheaton cock, "for my husbands sake." Cause that blue color is just so ugly.

Would you sudjest I get birds from one place, or should I find two sources?

Cheryl, the Ameraucana Breeder's club website has a photo's page showing all the accepted varieties: http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html

, soooo glad your birds are doing so much better! And whatever you are doing to get the awesome Roo over Ladies mix so perfectly, you need to share your recipe!!! It's still early to tell, but I am fearing that most of my new Orp chickies you brought up are boys.........

I have 30+ BBS bantam cochin eggs in the bator now and I am ever so fearful they will all be boys........again. We hatched two different batches of these out in the spring, and I ended up with only one blue hen. We had 6 others hatch and they were all boys!!!!

We had our new goat shed installed yesterday and are working out there now to turn it into a proper goat barn. The goats come on Tuesday!!!

Wow, how can that be ?
I am sad I told LaSombra to hold her blue Am roo for me in case I needed him, and now see I have 2 roos and 7 hens, so had to tell her I did not need her roo...makes me feel bad.

Good luck on your splash babies, bet they will be gorgeous !

Ameraucanas already do come in the recognized color of "Silver," though rare, which is still Silver Duckwing.

Gold Duckwing on the other hand isn't an Ameraucana color, and though I'd love it to be, don't understand why it isn't.

Do it Illia !
I am not so fond of the silver Ameraucana...it does not look the same.
My favorite is the duckwing araucanas look so much different.
Well, I gotta go get some work done, DH is giving me that get off the puter look !

he is a very nice guy...has darker head fades to blue, great beard and all, but I have 4 and 2 seem to be popping golden colored hackle...I have never seen that on a blue roo or is that normal ?
Has black legs/feet light soles...
I thought I had 5 hens and 2 roos but we seperated them from the OEs and it looks like 4 roos and 4 hens, more normal hatch.
I had 1 die 2 weeks ago so it was 5 hens and 4 roos.
