Unfortunately I have another year to wait before she can do any type of pre-school. Toddlers have to be 3 in order to go. At least in a public setting. And we just can't afford a private setting. You are right though, she does need to be around children her age.

Sometimes I am so glad mine are grown !!!
I barely held together in my 20s-30s with kids !!!!!!!!!!!!
All I wanted to do was ride my Harley and be gone.
I worked up to 2 jobs, day and swing and HATED having to stay home with kids on my ONEDAYOFF!!!!!
Especially when DH (at the time) was out on his hog...
I love my kids BUT
I agree! Duct tape is the way to go !!!
lol.png

My son asked me last year when my grandson was born: Mom, wanna change a diaper??
I said are you out of your freaking mind ????????????????????????????
sickbyc.gif

Why would ANYONE in the world WANT to change a diaper ????
sickbyc.gif

Same with the school bus driver with kids shooting the back of her head with spitballshttp://bestsmileys.com/hitting/24.gif while she is trying to manuever the giant bus through traffic....pulling hair and fighting...why are there no seat belts on a school bus anyway ???http://bestsmileys.com/school/6.gif
I feel sorry for you Cheryl, but you gotta do it just like the rest of us.

And some of us never learn, we have more and more and that is why we have over population.
Another very sore and inconvinient TRUTH. We need to stop over breeding humans.

From hot hot lady to hot chicken lady.

Farm is doing okay. . . It sure did POUR last night!!

Everything is a wet sopping mess, my nesting room is leaking and has a big puddle on the floor, the coop is kinda damp and nasty, and a couple pullets SLEPT IN THE RAIN last night.
barnie.gif

But today it's dead calm, no rain, no wind. . . .

Back to the chickens:
Illia, maybe what I have is Blue Birchen Ameraucana !
lol.png

The neck hackle that is appearing on two boys is V shaped, (like a barnsvelder)with a dark stripe in the middle
and cream colored, I cannot waite to see what my purebred Ameraucanas are going to actually be.
Jean's babies indeed.
I don't think so.
I guess I better contact my egg seller and see whats up here ?
Blue Birchen Ameraucana sounds good though

There is no reason to feel sorry for me. Yes Chloe is a monster, but she is also the light of my life. I do agree, we have a major over population problem, and lots of people still popping out kids like it's a hot new fad... My husband and I are not planning on any more kids. Chloe was my 3% chance baby, completely had the odds stacked against her, because of reproductive issues that I have. And now the Dr.s are giving me an even lower chance of having another kid. But thats just fine with me! One little handfull is plenty for us. lol

Do I wish I could drop averything and go party like I used to? Oh my yes I do!!! But Chloe is the reason that I settled down, and same for my husband. If it wasn't for her... Well who knows where my hubby and I would be right now. Probably NOT paying our bills, and not doing the things that we enjoy doing iether. lol Chloe was a major blessing to us, in many ways, and made us grow up pretty darn quikly. She was JUST what we needed, to make us pull our heads out of where they did not belong. lol We are much better people because of her.

I have no problem admitting that.

Cheryl, kids will either make you pull your head outta you-know-where or drive you or your hubby or both, insane and tear up a marriage...it depends on the person.
I have seen encouragible immature idiots go stark raving resposible the minute their baby cried.
And the opposit as well.
Glad you made it through the storm especially that close to the river!
Illia is OK too...wow, you guys got it hard.
Yes the wyandotte sisters sing, and sound so much different than the other multitude of hens here that I can tell it is them.
They are the older so taken over, as matriarchal hens in the BBS Marans flock
lol.png
, and still squat for sex when I walk by, so I give them a few pats on the back...they then think they have had 'some' and fluff up and walk away satisfied...chicken sex.
lau.gif

Usually the hens squat for me but the other day DH came in the house and announced he had just had sex with a Brahma
lau.gif

She two-timed me and had a romp with DH !!!
My Mom and Dad think it is the funniest thing they ever saw, all the hens squat when I walk through the coop...I gotta spank chickens where ever I go !
lau.gif

Well, Roscoe and Duke just watch, confused.
One day they are going to figure it out and get really mad when one of their girls squats for me !!
gig.gif

Cheryl I can hardly waite to see the chicks you hatch from a PBR and the Polish Roo !!!
ya.gif

I am deep into Golden Cuckoo-Silver Cuckoo land today, ....breeding and cross breeding and double back...you get the gest of what I am saying.
I am considering the best "red-browns" to use as parent stock...any ideas ?

And yes, Teresa, I am deep into hot flash territory as well, complete with fan blowing on me all night...dang I am So hot sometimes I feel like I am going into spontineous combustion and feel like I should sleep with a smoke detector...
lau.gif

OK, back to brown-red research...

Im not so hot on the Silky... She's kinda a spaz, very flighty, imposible to keep dry or clean. lol

You know what... I really wasnt planning on hatching eggs from these guys... But now you have me wondering... Hmm... I might just have to give it a shot. Hopefully the Silky will go broody, or I'll just have to give you some eggs to set, because I dont have an incubator. Then again... I have been asking for an incubator for two years, maby I will buy myself a birthday present in November! lol

My husband would just LOVE that. lol

I have some Javas lined up for spring if I can get away from it.
Javas are wonderful birds...there was just a few articles on them in Mother, go back through the archives.
I just got Rhode Island White eggs and hatched 4 chicks, 1 roo we are sure of so far, and 3 hens, so hopefully we can work on bringing this breed back from the verge also.
I will send a PM to the woman I got my RIWs from, she has Javas I am pretty sure.
Even more rare is white Javas...but blacks are so beautiful.
And how are you going to do all this when you cannot have a rooster ?
Why can't we surgically prevent a rooster from crowing so city folk can keep them ?
A simple altercation with the vocal cords ?
Sounds so mean, but it is possible and within a decent cost amount ?
Have to ask our Tacoma vet about that opinion ?
I know when the general alarm goes up here..a hawk or mysterious shadow under a bush...ALL my birds go off including the Guineas and the din can blow your ear drums out...and poof! Every bird disapears, and not a peep made.
You would never know a single chicken lived here, it is like a ghost town !
lol.png

But I seriously can admit the girls going off on alarm or the "I am gonna lay an egg " song and a few extra hens always join in on the song singing and that can be just as noisy if not more noisy as a roo crowing.
So far, I have 6, and none crow before 6:30.
It is nice in that he is my alarm clock and gets my butt out of bed.
wink.png

My neighbors don't seem to mind the "general" noise just the Roo noise at 7am and I have to admit the Roo is loud but then he's very large. If I can get Java's I might make a little noise proof roo apartment! and because I have a rooster already which none of them have seen I might be able to "switch" roos and no one gets grumpy.
If the Java breeder has eggs I'd love to get some!

Btw DIYSeattle is getting some welsummers! gonna be a heritage chicken neighborhood!

Great pics Cheryl !
And I LOVE the buff-laced Polish Roo...he is awful cute.
I do not know if he will be big enough to fertilize a LF hen...gotta ask Illia that Q...I do not do polish.
I do know that if you get an incubator, you will be deeply addicted for life, and will have a hard time stopping....
And you will want to get quality hatching eggs, and have alot of predator-proof pens and coops to build, and that is where the money goes...
The coops I have built probably average $500 plus after we get done insulating and all...but I can sleep at night know ing of the birds are locked up safe at night and pretty sure they will be OK during the day.
You can get eggs to hatch for a "egg money", but it costs half a paycheck to build the coop and run, especially if you are keeping the breeds seperate so they cannot cross breed.

Rainwolf, I have PM'd her but she has not responded, must be away this weekend...but I also think if you want Javas, or any kind of chickens, why have a roo in the first place ?
That way your neighbors will have their peace, and you will have your chickens ?

I already have a second coop planned. I plan on making it large enough that I can split it, keep my future breeders in one side, and use the other side as a grow out area. I just need to figure out the best place to build it... I have three places that look promising, but I really need to think about the pros and cons of the locations before I commit to one.

Im thinking it will cost me around $300 to build my coop. I already have a bit of lumber here from the last coop I built.
