I cant see why you wouldn't be able to take it across the border. As long as your not transporting chickens you should be just fine transporting a little coop. Unless they say something like it has housed chickens and needs to be sterilized first... Other than that I can't emagine they would give you to much hassle...

Going to Canada and getting back from Canada you have to have EL PASSAPORTE
wink.png

That takes time to get...but if you have one, go!
Taking anything into Canada they inspect it, want to see the receipt, and make you pay the Canadian duty tax on it...

But be soooooo cold, and where do you hide Chloe when you are working ?
Mom's ?
You could travis her behind Lacey !

It will be cold, but better than the big all day drive in the snow.
And we are southwest of you, Illia is north of us, so typically in winter Illia gets it if it comes from the northwest and we get it if it comes from the southwest...from the north, down from Canada into Bellingham is the snowy COLD stuff.
I really do not mind the snow...It is the intense cold, from 30 and down betond, that I am not fond of at all, like 20 below zero, for example, where the roosters' comb freezes and turns black and we have to cut the necrotic tissue off and carterize, where everything freezes and trees explode...been there, don't want that ever again.
North Idaho was cold like that, from late December until the 16th of January, when the Chinook winds blow through and in 24 hrs it was 60 above...everything meted (but the sub soil) and all the snow slid off the roof, and we went outside in wonder...and old Indian said this is the Chinook wind, comes evey year in the vacinity of the 16th of Januray, stays a few days and sure enough by the 19th it was freezing and snowing again.
Watch for the Chinook winds this year, see if we have it here in WA, we should.
I want to learn the whole native story about the Chinook wind someday...

Everyone at Stevenson show today ?

Chloe goes to work with me on most days. But the days that I might have to ride to work, or drive in the snow, I will be leaving her with my mom.

We are however in the process of training Chloe's pony to pull a sled on skids. That way, "if/when" we do get snowed in, we can still get to and from the store "3 miles away" and be able to bring grocerys to our neighbors as well. We have 3 elderly neighbors that we help care for year round, but in the winter we get even more involved. Gotta make sure our elders are cared for and comfortable through the winter. I split, haul, and stack wood for a couple of my elder neighbors. I don't mind the extra work, and they appreciate the help.

Yes in January we do get some warmer winds that come, and thaw just about everything. And then we usually do get another hard freeze within a week afterwards. Makes things a massive mess around here, when it snows, melts, then we get a hard freez... Turns all the roads into sheet ice.

I wonder if I will have another upside down vehicle in my yard this winter... Every year, iether on my mothers property or mine, we have someone who thinks that just because our section of the road is straight, that it means that you can speed up... Well it doesnt work out to well in their favor, and in five years we have had five vehicles in iether of our yards... The first year a truck went through my moms fence and took out her wood shed, the next year someone hit one of my larger Hawthorn trees, our mail boxes have been wiped out twice, and the telephone pole at the road was taken out as well... So far every year someone winds up iether upside down or on their side...

See if I was actually out in the sticks this wouldn't happen as frequently. lol

So when are you guys moving to WA ?

As soon as our kid take there State Assessments, will be in April. Our boys are in Home Base public school (Virtual School - K12).

I've decided to sell all of my exhibition white runners. I will be taking several to the show in Stevenson to sell. These are nice birds, the parents have shown well and this year's birds haven't been shown yet. These birds are not as skittish as many runners I've seen, especially the old pair (the parents of the young birds).

I will also have some NICE saxonys for sale. The females have the correct eye stripes and good color, the males have good color, great heads, nice size. I only have one pair and extra drakes left. If you want a drake let me know, or I will only bring the pair.

Hope to see you at Stevenson. I've entered 17 birds, and hopefully I'll be able to corner a judge for a couple good critiques.

I will also have a few show carriers for sale. Bantam four hole stackable with plenty of ventilation and an area to attach cage cups. People liked mine at the MT show, so some extras were made for the Stevenson, WA show. They are very durable and nice quality.

See you there.

I tell you what, be gone for 3 or so days, and it takes some time to catch up. I am glad I finally found the final page though. I am on my second glass of wine, I am exhausted and the eyes are starting to blur. We spent the weekend at Conconully State Park. Took the boat, it got wet, but not from getting into either lake.....it rained....non-stop. Oh, well, had a good time. Kicked the 17 yo's butt in cribbage TWICE!!!!! played a few other board games, watched dumb movies, and ate too much junk food with kids and hubby. Had a good time. 5th wheel and boat now being put up for the winter....bummer. Hope to get more camping and fishing done next year. It was wet, cold, and windy. Lots of rain. Course, now the sky is clear and the hubby is shaking his fist at the sky....we come home...sky gets clear. Oh, well. Now I was able to catch up on my forums on BYC.

Interesting indeed, but I don't like how those posts have been supporting Murray McMurray or Ideal Hatchery, claiming that they keep the lines going. They don't. Ideal has been crossing Blue Wheaten and Wheaten Ameraucanas with the original stock as well as Production layers for quite some time, AND, Murray McMurray also has been using the same ol stock for a LONG time as well as adding Production layers to the genepool. Hatcheries should never be praised for breeding something and keeping it right.

Chickielady - My Tolbunt boys are old enough to fertilize eggs now, otherwise I don't have Tolbunt girls, so I'm crossing them to my other Polish (Silver Laced, etc) And hatching those. . .

Really would love a Gold Laced hen or pullet if anyone has any though!

See, that is the kind of weekend I love !!!
Campfire, a fantastic outdoor dinner...oh yeah!!!
wink.png

I cooked probably 3/4 of our meals over the campfire (wet campfire), but I got it done. bisquits and gravy for breakfast, good ole' hot dogs for lunch and steaks and 'taters for dinner one day. Even the rain could not "blanket" our weekend. Had a great time. Did no fishing, though. I asked the hubby if the fish minded getting "wet from the rain"....he glared at me. He saw no humor in it. I thought it was funny.. We did not go fishing.
