I for one enjoyed?(can't find the right word) Royces posts on the debate. I lean that way because I share his beliefs but he presented his views very diplomatically and eloquant. Very well spoken.

Something I watched on Youtube and I wish I had the link but it's been a while. It was a documentary of sorts that showed population growth amongst the different races. Don't quote me as I can't remember exact numbers but China had the least amount of children per couple, White Americans had 1.5 children per couple and the highest was Muslims at 8+ children per couple. Makes you wonder. If that rate of growth continues will Americans become like a Heritage breed chicken? At 1.5 children per couple we (white Americans. I realize not everyone on here is white American) are not even replacing ourselves. I don't think it's overbreeding and I also don't think people should feel guilty for wanting to have children. It's obvious we are not the ones having 8+ chidren. This is based on fact.

Would anyone know what is wrong with a 4 week old chick that suddenly becomes semi paralysed in the legs? Not sick or lethargic, wings move fine, eyes are bright, looks perfectly healthy otherwise. It can move it's legs, it just can't stand up on them. It has been completely normal till this point and seemed to happen over night. Injury maybe? or is there some neurological disease that can do this?

Put up No Trespassing signs, A motion activated web cam and prosecute or just shoot them 2 legged varmints with a paint gun of course. Having someone come on to my property would make me a unhappy farmer.

Now that my flock is MUCH smaller, and they are now on MY half of the adjacent properties, I have had NO issues!

I really didn't want to scare the little twit, but I would have if her gandparents didn't do something about it. lol I know a blast of rock salt in the bum hurts like no other.

As I said before, I work with Civil Engineers and as such I know that groundwater (GW) is only one source of where we get our water and it's actually a much smaller source than surface water (SW). SW provides fresh drinkable water through many different sources. There is desalinization, water reuse, water recycling, and numerous water treatment processes. And, while I'm not positive on this, I think if I remember correctly, it is cheaper to treat surface water than groundwater. So the aquifers are a mute point.

And if you think you are arguing with a 2-year old, think again. Two-year olds rarely base their "arguments" on logic and fact. And, as far as I'm concerned, this was not an argument but a discussion - or perhaps as another already stated a "debate" - but certainly not an argument in the negative sense. And most certainly not one that had to result in name calling.

Finally, as for my source of "Truth" being a "mythological novel", in 2nd Timothy 3:16 of that book there is a claim made that no one has yet been able to disprove. Moreover, at least I have a source that I consider to be the "authority". I have yet to see you - Chickielady - put forth any substantive evidence or authoritative source for your opinions. Opinions are just that. They may be your truth but that does not mean it is THE truth.

And that truth is the whole crux of the matter. When everything is boiled down to it's purest form it becomes a simple matter of what we choose to hold on to as our final authority. Either we can choose to believe that there is a Creator who knows a whole lot more than us and we are nothing more than a creation of His, made in His image, or we create a god in our image which then allows us to be god and as such we then get to decide what is right and wrong. Either we accept and submit to His omniscience and His wisdom or we rely on our own. Thus the 1st and 2nd Commandments. It has been that way since the beginning and it always will be. This applies to everything - including how we look at animals. How we view mankind in turn determines what "rights" mankind has and what "rights" chickens have.

Now, having said that, we should be able to vigorously debate such things without resorting to name calling. Name calling usually occurs when one cannot logically and reasonably put forth a substantive, evidenciary argument. And I might add that if you don't think calling the Bible a "mythological novel" is insulting, try doing that to the Koran with a Islamist. I don't believe I have said one word about your "science" and your right to believe in such. I certainly haven't used any adjectives (and purposely so) that I might personally use to define some of the science that is put forth. In the end, it all boils down to what you choose to believe.

I most certainly believe a certain way and I doubt there is anyone on here who has any doubts about where I come from. However, I have tried to use rationale and reasoning in my responses. To insinuate that anyone who does not believe or think as you do is brainless is not profitable to any discussion. And if one is going to insinuate that we ought to gas humans as we do cats and dogs (and I think they actually get lethal injection) because of over-population or that we ought to commit mass suicide as lemings running over a cliff, begs the question as to whether you really want to lead that charge?

If you want to be the first to run off the cliff or to be gased for your cause - for your belief - then I say Bully For You and while I'd disagree with your choice, I'd respect your steadfastness to your belief. But if you're expecting someone else to do that for you, then I'd question your belief system. As for me, I say humans will always come before any animal and I'd support the right for any human to live before any human dies in the name of an animal. Now I ask the question to the general audience, which one of us would you rather follow?

Human beings are preeminent to any animals as far as I'm concerned. If that makes me a two-year old, well so be it. I wonder how many would rather follow this two-year old's line of reasoning than the alternative?

God Bless,

No offence to iether you or Chickielady. I wouldn't want to follow iether of you. I feel you are both wonderful people, and I agree with BOTH of you on certain points. BUT, I am not and never will be a blind follower. My beliefs are complicated, and better left private, because of my families chosen path, it is just safer to keep to ourselves.

"To keep Silent; Knowledge is power, do not offer more private information than is required or asked for." This quote can go both directions, personal knowledge can give someone the power to make or break someone else. But it all depends on how said person uses that knowledge. The outcome could be positive, or gods forbid, a negative outcome. It all boils down to the choices that we as individuals make...

Sorry if this makes no sence to anyone but me! I half expect that.

I agree with you totally, and that is exactly why I choose to not argue, not because I have no scientific evidence of my beliefs.
I just do not belong to the beliefs that he has and I am not sure what he is believing in as he feels other religions are OK ?
But science is poop ?
Confusing.
None the less, I have better things to do than read all this stuff, compile a retaliation and repost.
I am into chickens.
My animals do have rights and so do the wildlife.
They have a right to care, and feed and nurtition and respect while in my care.
No animal deserves to suffer and be abused.
None.
So, moving on hopefully from the so called debate...I am shipping the BBS Maran eggs to Rainwolf...this afternoon instead of having a giant omelette...hope she gets her bator going !

Maybe they lost their medication ?
I never said people should not have chicldren, I have 2.
I and lots of others feel that is enough.
When you have alot of chicldren, it is hard on the entire family...which one, if any gets to go to college ?
Least of all a girl, like myself and my sister.
I experienced a big family.
Quite often we did not have the best food or clothes, or toys like the other kids did.
I met a Chinese woman not long ago..new to the neighborood, unable to speak too much english, she was pregnant and had 7 other children...all girls !
She was tired, and ragged and standing in the food bank line when I went to drop off extra vegetables from garden.
Sad.
In China, they cannot have that many kids, by law I guess, especially in decades past the girls were taken and killed.
There was little food and other necessities so the entire country was forced to slow and zer population growth.
So they are so happy to immigrate here where they can breed as they please.
And still every week she begs for food.
There are already so many hungry and homeless here.
So sad.
They still feel America is the land of dreams as Greg said ?
The American dream ?
Still this country offers a better life than many others, but that is being tested as Greg said.
So...off to work again, later guys!!!!!!!

Rustler call Gary !!!

Well I will start by saying that I have ALWAYS prefered to hang out with people older than I. Well when you are a kid hanging out with teenagers you tend to get into trouble. Well my friends neighbor had a run down building on his property. Us kids were constantly being told to stay out of the building and off this particular persons property... We didn't listen, and one day, BOOM shotgun blast FULL of rock salt... I was the lucky one, "was standing in front of my friend," he took the main blast, and I was hit with two pieces of salt... Back of the leg, and about an inch deep, clean and OH SO very painful. My friend took the bulk of I would guess now, two grams of salt in his bum, and legs. The good thing about rock salt is that its clean, disolves, and is a wonderful deterent for kids, and critters alike. Needless to say, we didn't go back to his property again, until YEARS later.

I wound up being hired on by the older gentleman, and we laughed over the rocksalt filled blast. That old timer taught me a very good lesson, and its one I will NEVER forget.

I know its not THAT exciting, but my memory isn't the best when I try to remember things that happened when I was MUCH younger.

A discussion of the alarming population growth that can greatly effect our humankind in the future is what is is all about.
It is happening, and if it continues humans with suffer, without space, jobs, water and food.
Already many live in apartments in ghettos and have little chance of escaping poverty and gang life, so very sad.
Oh well, we must do what we can and move on.

This is very true. It is hard for people to move forward, but we all must do what we can to survive and get by. The world isn't always such a nice place, and times are tough for everyone.

And this is why I am happy to have the little that I do have. Even though life is a struggle now, we still move forward. We have our health, a home, are able to keep food on the table, and care for others who are in a tougher spot than we are.

My family is blessed, and I know it, even if my DH thinks our personal world is failing. We still move forward, and we survive. We always take care of our own, and help others that are outside our close circle, as much as we can.

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

the school system here at WSU is hacked and has a video feed in a similar style to the one V delivers in the movie.
it interrupts each hour of lectures.

pretty cool.
and here i was thinking about this poem when i woke up this morning....
i wonder if anything else will happen today that is interesting along these themes.... or in the world.

Absolutely positively !
It is awfully upsetting to me to take extra veggies to the food bank and have to walk by the long lines of mostly immigrants with so many chicldren, most live in apartments with several other families...they have no way to rasie their food and most have found that there is not as much milk and honey here as they thought.
Not many can afford homes to buy, most can barely rent.
Sometimes I ache to bring more food down to the food bank...and then worry when it is winter about these droves of poor and all those kids !
Some people have told me to stop taking food down there cuz it upsets me so, I really want to take them extra food...I do stuff like that.
OH well we cannot feed them all, not all the time.
My garden is still small this year and the orchard here is young too.
OK< now I am worried about feeding these people all over again....Back to work !
And we are so lucky we have land, privacy, a spot to grow food, fruits and raise our animals.
