Yeah I am qiute the scavenger. I have less than $100 in both my coops.
And that includes my antique 15 hole nest box. I have been told that new ones sell for $300 $400. Yes it was free too. And the girls seem to really like it.

Question for all - Is rainwater collecting actually illegal in the state of WA? I mean, I heard it is in CO, but I thought that was just a ridiculous and unique to that state. . .

I've been hearing twice now of this problem, and I do indeed notice a lot of people selling what used to be their rainbarrels, so I'm really curious of this.

For those looking to paint coops etc. Here in my county we have what is called the Hazo Hut. People can take haz mat to be disposed of. They sort through and have a "swap shack" and you can get all kinds of things from it for free. Like paint, cleaning supplies and lots of other stuff. I got 10 gal of barn red paint. And the neighbor and I got enough blue grey that we painted 4 houses and my pump house and the white for trim. And yes it was all free !!!
Check your local area and see if there is something like this.

DON'T EVEN THINK OF TRYING TO SNEAK IN ON MY SUPPLY lol ya gotta be a resident of this county!!!!

And just who are they going to have enforce this? The rain barrel police. I bet they will be working right along side the burn barrel police. You all did know that it is ILLEGAL to use a burn barrel right!! Actually it is illegal to burn anything but "YARD DEBRIS" tree limbs etc.

Yes I agree. But I don't think Seattle metro police would like that too much. She's staying in an apartment in Seattle somewhere...

The thought had crossed my mind though.

You do not even need an imagination to think what I am thinking...
There has to be a way !
What about sueing her for abandonement ?

And there again... Ive already been told by the county sheriff that they are my responsibility now... I agreed to take them in, and now I'm stuck. They will be going away iether today or tomorrow... As I can not aford the care that these to oldies need. They are getting a better end, than being passed around from one place to another. Plus if I gave them to someone else, I would have no control over wether or not they end up in auction. I can't risk that being on my concience. I would rather have them put down, and not have to worry about them anymore. It's just the kindest thing to do for them.

Sorry Cheryl,
Not nice to get dumped on. You are doing the right thing.

Illia & Rustler,

I think collecting rainwater is illegal here. (Need a permit) But it is not being enforced for homeowners who just collect a small amount for personal use. Rainbarrels are still being sold at the Freddies near me.
