Thats a tough one... Especially knowing that you will wind up with the extra work. Is the pup at least partially house broke? Any health issues that are known? Fixed unfixed? I guess it really boils down to, can you handle two pups, and do you have the finances for two new pups? I know that with my three dogs, they are all I can handle inside my house, 3 is my dog limit. Or I should say, my husbands limit...

If you don't mind the extra pup, or the extra little bit of work, have plenty of love, can afford the exrta bit of feed, and care... Then I would say go for it. Even if its only a temperary foster situation.

Thank you for answering:

I have had up to six dogs before (I have had the email sixdogs2many forever). Anyway regarding your questions: She has no health issues. She is spayed and up to date with shots. We have a very large yard that is fully fenced. I have the financial means to support/feed/care for another dog. They are smaller dogs, so in the house, everyone has their spot and many times this is under my feet and then I yell at everyoine to get out of my way.

I have the love and really don't mind the work. I was thinking that the two pups might actually help one another out as they would play together and then the 1 pup we have now would leave my 3 geriatric dogs alone. Puppy #2 is so cute too. I am actually looking into a job with the vet's office too, I would get discounted food and services - ahhhhhh, yes we will probably take the puppy......I will make the rest of the house help me.

My one and only thing is that she can not sleep on MY bed....I will have to figure out something. DH does not share his half, so my half of the bed has Sabyl (geriatric dog) and Pica (new puppy), ME, Zach (old cat) and occasioinally Rebel (Zach's brother - old cat #2). Is this just not the craziest thing? I may reinstate my kennel rules and stick puppies in crates at night. They are/would be in crates whenever we leave house.

thank you for allowing me to think out loud.

Hey does anyone know about small dog gestation??? I posted about a huge oops with my mini dacshund, well her milk glands are filling, she's slowed down a bit on feeding. No nesting yet... She was tide with my sisters male mini dacshund on or right around September 11th. I know the gestation is normally 60 - 64 days.

I guess I'm just second guessing wether or not she took. But then again, my mguess on the day might not be correct. I just don't know.

And has anyone ever seen a fixed female bag up? When we brought Kona home, we were told that she was fixed, she has the tummy scar, but she is bagging up in the teats... SO very confusing...

I have 6 dogs right now. I really need to find homes for the 2 puppies. I really didn't think that when I got the big dog I would still have him at this age. I have found that 5 little dogs may not quite equal a big dog, but then there are 5 little minds trying to figure out how to drive me crazy as opposed to one really big dog that is smart enough to not irk the mom, when I am not up to be being irked. Someday I hope to be down to 3 full time little dogs. Maybe even just 2. That felt really mean to even think about. Miss Gabby loves living with me.

I believe their gestation period is the same as a big dog. Have you taken her to the vet for a prenatal check up? I did with my pom when we did 1 litter. Had an x-ray to see how many puppies so we knew she could handle it. And, I have heard of other females starting to lactate even when they are spayed.

Peanut butter!!! And the CAB FRESH. Since I got my car all detailed and a bag of that, NO MICE!

I went through a week of peanut butter on the traps, caught a few...then nothing so switched to chocolate frosting, and caught alot, 6-7 and 3 rats...then nothing, so then tied the cheddar and they ate if off the traps so went to the sticky velvetta.
I have seen the cab...is it killer or repellant ?
I did not read the label.
I did pop the trunk in the classic car stored here, and there was rat candy in there (poson) and a dead mouse that was little more than fur, a skeleton and a dried up tail...and five or 6 big slow moving maggots...ca ca !!!
I hate the poison, they die and stink...we had one in the defroster of our new mini van DH insisted they could not get in unibody construction, yeah right...every morning we would go fire up the van and turn on the defroster and the GACK!!!!!!! dead rotting stink would about make you hurl...and I swear the stink would cling to my hair and clothes like cigarette smoke does...yuck!!!!!
Yippee for the snow !

Course probably not fun if you have to function in it...and Clarence is going to think it is spring time when he comes to live here !!!
His coop is almost ready !!!

I found that raw cookie dough was very effective in the traps.

I know, one more is not really going to be that big of a difference other than when we want to leave town - just another to board or take with us. I have been up to 6....it was kiind of nice to be down to 3. Oh, well....I just called the vet and told them to have the people give us a call. Bad situation and I feel bad for them. Very sweet little dog.

It sounds lke your mind is made up. And I agree, that having two youngins together will give the older pups a break... My Dusty got a huge reliefe from Wheazy the weener dog when we brought Kona home. Dusty is 11, Wheazy is 3, and Kona is 2... "I say no more dogs until at least a year AFTER Dusty leaves me. I know I will be devistated when that day arives."

Ok thats it! I gotta see pictures of your pups! Sounds like you have a little pack going over there. lol Happy healthy family pack of dogs.

And by pack I mean 2 or more. lol not the mentality. I prefer keeping two dogs over just one, as I don't always have the time to commit to lots of attention on a daily basis, and keeping two or more together, they play together, eat, sleep, run, ect... They just seem to be happier having a dog family member. lol

thank you for allowing me to think out loud.

I understand about the bed thing. We finally had to crate 3 out of the 6 dogs so that we could have a place to sleep in the bed. With this last batch of puppies, the cats moved out of the house. I feel kind of guilty about that, but it was the cat’s choice. I have also found that there are fewer accidents in the house with the 3 dogs crated for the night. The first night can be tough, but I found that even though the dogs are in crates in my bedroom, I sleep much better than when I cave in from the guilt of being a mean mommy, and let them all sleep with me. I am so grateful that the big dog has never wanted to sleep with us. He used to climb in bed with us on Saturday mornings, but he hasn't done that for more than a year or more now. I think it has become too hard for him to climb up on the bed. He still sleeps next to the bed under the window, and he gets irked at me for not going to bed with him when he is ready to go. Some nights he just gives up on me and goes to bed anyway. But I know that it makes both him and Teddie cranky when I rattle all night, and they have to go to bed without me.

I use our local mobile Vet. And she doesn't have exray in the truck. She did palpate and said IF she is she will only have 1. that was three weeks ago. I think I will call and at least touch base with her.
