I also wonder what a couple of emus would do to may rather nice backyard? I am a little concerned about my hydrangeas. i love them and so far the chickens have ignored them. I can't say the same for my poor geraniums, and some of the other plants in the mixed pots.

Well yes as a matter of fact I have eaten QUAIL. Back when I was in high school I would come home get the scatter gun and off I went. I would be home and have a nice dinner of quail and all the fixin ready when mom and dad got home. And in case yer wonderin yes quail are very tasty. They taste a lot like spotted owl.

I have a scarry situation to deal with. I just aquired a 6x12 dog kennel. its another perfect start for some more small birds. I am thinking more banties or maybe even quail. The problem is deciding what kind birds. Like I need any more !!!!

You should come for awhile, or see about possibly donating a gift basket from your winery for a raffle item as a fundraiser so the poultry shows can continue. It would be a nice way to plug your winery too! I'm on the SE side, and we have some GOOD wineries over here. I plan on bringing a bottle from one of the local wineries....

Sounds good. Maybe I'll contact someone from the website and see about donating a Private Wine Tasting Party for up to 25 people at our shop. (a $200 value) I can always mail that instead of trying to figure how to get a gift basket there on Saturday. Then maybe my husband and I can get there at 8 AM Sunday to see what there might be left to see.
Thanks for the info you guys!

Can they be trained to lay other than WHITE EGGS ??? We are not allowed to have WHITE EGGS. Speaking of here is a funny story for ya all. I have been selling eggs to a friend and in the boxes are normally some of our green easter eggs. Well Steve had read the book "Green eggs and ham Sam I am" to his 3-4 yo grand daughter. Now She will not eat any eggs that are not green. So If I don't have green eggs for Steve he has to use food coloring to turn WHITE eggs green.

I didn't think Marans were approved yet in APA standard? If so, they can't win top bird, although they could win BV or BB, but not Ch of show.
