Ok I'm finally home and about half frozen!
Got off work at 10pm bus normally picks up at 10:15......
at 11:30 a bus that was heading back to the barn picked a bunch of people up and dropped us all at south center where it possible to catch more then 1 bus.....
got really lucky caught a bus to the light rail station..... got downtown at 1am... bus tunnel closed... tunnel has not seen a north bound bus for over 2 hrs....
went to surface and tried to find a cab...... 30mins later got cab and shared with 2 others heading north.

Walked in door at 2am

Now to check all the birdies and up the heat lamps then take bath to try and get warm again sometime tonight/morning........

You and Heather both spoke about giving corn....you mean like cracked corn? Does this help them? Mine have layer and scratch....should I go and get some corn too? Would this help them? We got 9 degrees this morning with 20+ mph winds..making it around -9.

How's that for kissin' up?

My father is ex-telephone man....we have one of those little orange phones that connects up there to make phone calls. LOL . Ya' I wouldn't want to have to climb a pole to make a phone call...may want to upgrade and have it put in your house...keep warmer that way.

Who was it that is from Ione? Now I know where (where Ione) you are at. I watched Grace Pena - on Krem2 News. I saw Ione on the map....you are around -21 this morning...bundle up. Brrrrr.

Terrie Lacey is in Ione, WA, near Cusick...

We are fine !
Two heat lamps in the big coop, has kept it at 44 almost all night, despite it having 1/2 insulation in it.
It is downright balmy in there

It is 18 here...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....the other coop has pea comb birds in it, is fully insulated and I do not have a remote thermometer in there, so hope they are OK.
DH is in bed snoring....

Jack is curled up under my chair like Teresa's dogs do...wish I had a cat in my lap though!

We got about another 1 1/2" last night, on top of the semi melted and refrozen spattered snow that we had..sooo glad we will not drive anywhere today !
My Big incubator never missed a beat, Java babies in the brooder are basking in the sand....toasty warm...and we enevr lost power !
Alot of people did , not around here though.
Last year we never lost power...all power out here is under ground but the feed lines somewhere are not...
sad.png

Hope all of you are OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!
My water tank (Rain water) line did not freeze !!!!
Packed with hay...I filled 2 55 gallon drums in the hatching room and about 20 milk jugs I saved...Rabbits bottles are the only thing that froze....

And I always wondered for years and years just exactly what does the Jolly Green Giant do in his 'off' season (winter) when he is not out growing green beans ???
And now we know...he drives a snow plow

Oh My Rainwolf you poor frozen thing !!!!
That kind of situation would do permenent damage to my hands and feet having Raynaud's...I would no doubt end up having to have fingers/toes and other "tissue" removed...that scares me !!
