lol, deja vu - Same thing was asked last night.

BBR stands for Black Breasted Red. In most breeds, it is what Wheaten is called. In some other breeds, and makes more sense to me, it is a solid gold duckwing coloring.

In this case it is Wheaten, which is why I say BBR/Wheaten, because I'm not sure what a Serama breeder would call it, but I do know other similar bantam breeds usually refer to BBR.

Yes, I'm 100% positive on both colors. Mottled birds start out mostly white with a little bit of black in that particular marking, them feather out black, THEN, some months later, get a little bit of mottling that slowly expands out to the rest of the body.

Wheatens always start out yellow, then feather in like your cockerel, then turn to look like this -

I am in love with them. The babies are currently residing in my living room. I am so excited to finally get a start on this project and very much appreciate the help cowgirlgrace has given me. I have had horrible lav luck, lol.

I love eye candy- and chickens to me are complete and total eye candy.

Has anyone heard a new hatchery is going up in the Spokan area. Terry Albrittin?

Just wondered if you heard what breeds he has are the hatchey stock or standard breed birds.

Did your show melt you got the other day. I think your strom just got to me in Alabama.

Bob from Centralia.

Lav orps are a project bird. Hinkjc has always made that very clear. There is along ways to go before they meet the orp standards.

I am hoping to breed the lavs back to a high quality black orp type in the summer. I actually am hoping Christine of Korfus Kluckers will be at the show this weekend. I also really like bamachickens black orps.

Hinkjc shared her work with people in order to help work on the project and for genetic diversity. I plan on doing my part in supporting her vision and I know Cowgirlgrace is already working hard in that area by the beautiful big, black fluffy butts I got the honor of seeing last week.

My splits came directly from Hinkjc eggs this summer (I believe she said 5th gen splits?) when she was not really selling to the public. I had emailed her months before and I got blessed that she offered me hatching eggs. I wanted birds directly from her, not to criticize anyone's work on the project, but I wanted to know exactly where I was starting from. I am confident I am at least working in the right direction.

Illia- I greatly admire the knowledge you have shared on a variety of threads I have read in BYC. Your genetic knowledge is awesome.

Edited and added e's where needed, darn sticky keyboard.

No, never heard of them. If he's going to try as a hatchery, I'd bet it is normal hatchery stock. Only once ever heard of someone near Spokane being talked about as if they're a hatchery, and. . . They actually had real Ameraucanas and good Cochins. I think someone just called them so because they had more than 2 breeds available.

Our snow on the west coast is all melted, however the east side is still getting dumped on.

Alabama? I think our windstorm hit you, yeah, but I believe the snowstorm went straight eastward. Last I saw, it was up in Montana, going to the Dakotas.

Sorry if I did sound offensive, I'm just paranoid about them. Yes, they're a project indeed, but there's so many people I'm now finding are sending them backwards it just isn't funny. . . . If people want to breed for a pretty color, they should call them "Lavender chickens" not Lavender Orpingtons, in my opinion.

But, that cockerel there is indeed a nice start!
