This is why I don't own horses. They suck up SO much of your money, don't give any back in return (just horserides and lots of stress) they take up a lot of space, they eat a lot, they're hard on land, and they're so often rather A) stupid B) stubborn or careless of people.
Our last horse was a gorgeous PMU Rescue filly, turned to an outstanding mare. She was a warmblood, black, and VERY big. She was extremely athletic and a good jumper, but golly she was thick headed. She fought with the elk (and got serious injuries) bolted in thunderstorms and got her legs tangled in barbed wire, picked on any other horses or teased the boys a lot, and . . . She took a lot of money and we hardly even got a horse ride out of her. There was the first aid supplies for her injuries, the training far off on Roy for a few weeks, the blankets, saddle, halters, LOTS of hay, I could go on. . .
I like cattle and goats so much more because you can still ride cattle, they're still beautiful (the non-beef or non-dairy kind, IMO) and they actually give back in more than one way.
Also, they don't tear up your land and chew up your barn.
my two cents.
