Jen,.. You were running around just as much if not more so. Your call ducks are adorable. Love the color. I wish their standard counterparts (the saxonies) performed as well as the appleyards in my area, as the coloring is just lovely.

HI,
Could the Jen with the Call Ducks PM me? I want some so very bad next spring. I bought some eggs on eBay last summer and my hatcherarium could not maintain it's temp and I lost all dozen eggs. Could also have something to do with the shipping and whatever. I had a pair of Calls about 18 years ago and have wanted more all this time. Now, I might be ready next spring. Love them for how danged cute they are, and also that they will eat slugs and not totally trample my garden.
Thanks Jen
I am planning to go to the show in Monroe next spring
How much, give or take should I figure I will be spending on the ducks / ducklings? I know it is hard to say but am I looking at $10ish, $20ish, $50ish, $100ish?

I love her muffs! Congrats! What did you send out for the new years hatch?

And by the way... I don't mean to be gross or perverted... but your chicken has a very poopy butt...

Those are tufts, not muffs. Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers have muffs.

Yes, he had a poopy butt indeed. . . I had to clip his vent feathers to prevent it from doing that. A couple of my Araucanas have that issue, and I'm hoping I can breed it out, as it seems to be a genetic issue with the lack of vertebrae.

So sorry to hear of that Rare Feathers! Borzois are amazing, one of my top ten favorites. . .

Rare Feathers;

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your streak of bad luck turns around now, that is a lot to endure in one week.

JBear;

Thanks for asking. How are the winds at Lake Tapps?

The winds here just horrid today. I was gone most of the day, and when I returned some of the grommets were ripped from the tarps, but luckily the tarps were still attached by a couple of bungees to the chicken runs, not in a useful manner, but I did not need to go hunting for them, and despite my fears, the coops did not fly away. I was in town most of the day to attend parent teacher conferences. I could hardly concentrate because I had visions of my chicken tractors becoming airborne under the tarps, and coming down on someones car driving down I-90! When my son came home, I had him help me move the tractors deeper in our woods where we tied them to the trees. Just as we were finishing up, it started to rain. It's pouring now, and the winds have slowed down quite a bit. Our metal roof makes so much noise in the wind, I have not slept well in days.

I'll be glad when I can get that dog kennel coop/run completed. It is in the only flat area of my yard which is somewhat protected from the winds by a retaining wall. That also makes the area very shady, so I need to put a clear, snow-sturdy roof on the kennel.
I'll save the tractors for nice weather, and use the dog kennel this time of year.

Love that !! Love them Grandmas.
I had a grandma from Missouri also and she had the funniest sayings. I'm so often quoting her and when I do I can hear her saying it in her voice and then her laughing afterwards. It's sad to me that my kids and grandkids didn't know her and know how funny and kind and loving she was. But I guess that is the way it goes in this here life

I am truly sorry for your loss Heather and I can truly sympathize. I had to put Buck, my Beagle, down about two months ago and I still can't talk about it. Pulling that trigger was one of the hardest things I've ever done and I've put a lot of animals down in my time.

Strange isn't it how an animal can be so hard to lose. Hang in there. Not much else I can really say but I'm sorry for your loss.

(Btw, if anyone knows anyone that has 13" Tri-colored Beagles for sale, please send me an email.)

God Bless,

Thank you Royce. Actually, a co-worker of mine breeds Beagles although I'm not sure what size...I'll have to ask her tomorrow for you.

Heather, who are you thinking of as a breeder? Did you know that Diane Gray used to (I am not sure if she still does) breeds beagles? Is she your co-worker....that would be hilarious. I have known Diane forever.

as in that HUGE goose in the corner? My kids loved it! lol

Yes. I wish I could have fit more geese in my car, but since I brought the ducks and had also brought along a standard cochin pullet for Sheryl, I was short on space. He's a Dewlap Toulouse, is about a year and a half old. I find them to be the gentlest geese so far, although any gander can be difficult during breeding season. I prefer them over any other waterfowl.

Jen,.. can we make it any more confusing? I think there was another jen/jenni/jennifer there as well. We might have to start going by last names.

How much does that goose way, anyway?

Oh, and I'm the 3rd Jen LOL

Ogress.. the wind was not a problem here..it was slightly breezy Sunday afternoon and Monday evening and tonight it's just raining raining raining... but nothing like what you are dealing with. Glad you haven't blown away.. sounds like you have battened down the hatches anyway.
