This is a picture of what I hope to some day rasise. This is the best female I have seen in a long time. I have six males and 8 females right now. They are Dark Cornish not as good as this female but I was told she is related to the stock I have indirectly. I took a one minute vidio of them today but cant figure out how to up load them on u tube.

Ethel is in the wrong direction of the Willippa. Thats towards PeEll area.

Your area is near the Barrier Dam. There was a fellow named Fred Treaskie who had a fishing tackle type store in or around that area. When I was in school in the 60s he sold me a old Antique Magic Steelhead real for $10. I caught a few fish on it but the gears where worn out. I still have it in my barn it must be 60 years old. So its flood time up there again. That was the only way we could get fish up the Chehalis River is when it flooded the nets had to come out of the water. Then we had fish for the Newakum and Scoomuchuck river. bob



New pictures taken today to show a freind who is about to call me. Give you something to look at. Ducks are not to eat. To hard to hatch. Leghorns dont have enough meat on them Rhode Island Reds and Cornish just right. bob

Hey, it's been a while since I posted, but I wanted to pop back in and say hi!
I am also looking to actually get out and meet some people in the city who are a bit ducky in a good way. If I have to go off to grad school, I would also like to have found someone who would love to get my boys and keep them as happy as they are now.
I have three male mallards (lucky draw huh?) and they are half outdoor/half indoor ducks. While it it light, they go out and nibble around in the yard, and then they come inside, go into the tub to wash off, and on go the diapers! Then they tromp around the house and terrorize the cat and hold her food hostage, and we have fun.
I'm in West Seattle!

P.S. I know my avvie and my siggy paint a picture weird dark creepy person, which is what a lot of people assume, but I assure you, I am not. Well, I AM weird, I will never deny that, but don't get freaked out by the other animals I have a passion for!

You have most of the day tomorrow to get some straw or sand or something down in your runs so they aren't so bad after the coming rain.
With all the rain we've got so far I needed to add some more straw today.
For those of you on the east side of Seattle Del's in Monroe has straw for $7.00 a bale.

I've been blessed as I got 16 bales on Craigs for free couple months a go but close to using them up as I've been using them for more raised beds.

Remember this storm for those of you in the Snoqualmie Valley the important thing isn't how much rain as much as it is how long the freezing level stays up in the mountains.
Once this link is activated http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wa/nwis/uv/?site_no=12150400 which they do when the flood level reaches 29FT at Duvall if I recall correctly this link will also show the amount of water going over Snoqualmie falls.
That is the indicator you want to watch not the TV weather idiots standing at the side of the river with a stick in their hand.

Watch the flow coming over the falls to see if it is going to get worse or not.

In 2009 we were trapped here with no way out even though we live on a mountain all roads were shut down in the valley.

Greg, I remember viewing that same road in your photo. I live just a mile north of the king/sno. county line off High Bridge Road. The girls go to school in Duvall/Carnation. We lived in Duvall for most of the nineties and I remember getting shut in in 96 I think it was? My DD was in Daycare in Redmond as we were both working, and one of the ladies called me to say they were closing the last road in, come get her and get home quick! My oldest DD when down at Tolt wa once was evacuated early because of the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers both rising so quickly. Tolt is the Middle school here and it sits right at the intersection of those two rivers. Fun times!

We cut two trees down late summer to make room for the goat shed we put in and rented a chipper. I've been moving those chips into all the runs. I have half of the largest run left to do. And still have half the pile! The other runs all have at least 6" of wood chips in them. I'm hoping they will last for a few weeks at least before sinking into the mud! Hopefully it will be clear out early in the day tomorrow so that I can finish!

Chickielady~ Congrats on the chickies hatching!!!! I'm hoping my new trio of cochins will start laying and I will put their first eggs in. So far nothing yet from them though. But we are pretty sure one of them is laying by the spread of her pelvic bones. Hopefully she'll settle down soon and start laying! I think the other pullet is a bit younger though.
