Just for giggles I hatched a biddy X Cuckoo marans egg and it is a cuckoo, with a rose comb (maybe it is a crele chantecler hen !!!

So
I have the model with no hatching drawer, the 1500 I think it is...anyway, no water tray or moisture pads...and the trays appear to be the dark blue pheasant egg trays...there is no way it can hold a large chicken egg much less these jumbo Cuckoo eggs I have...and I believe quail eggs would fall right through the holes.
So, I am going to order some of the green chicken egg trays (is that what you have CowgirlGrace ? ) see towards bottom of page on left...and a water tray, pads and I already have the GFQ therms and hydros...

Cowgirl let me know what color trays you have ?

Seriously though.... I have heard that Pekin grow quickly and are good eats. I don't know about the Cayuga other than they are very pretty!!! Runner and Khaki Campbell are excellent egg layers! I get 3-4 eggs everyday non stop from my 3 females.
 
Oh and Chickielady I sent you the email of pictures! Finally!

It's been a long week! Was in bed 20 out of 24 hours a day! Had to take the whole week off of work!

Now the whole family has this sinus/ear yuck! So we will not be doing our huge family gingerbread house building weekend! But since I am going for the "Mom of the Year" award I bought 2 houses at Costco and we will decorate them here at home. Though it is going to take us all weekend to do! It is 2:30pm and I am the only one awake! We got up and made hot teas and breakfast and back to bed they went!
 
It is raining here non stop, from early this morning harder than I have ever seen...my driveway is on a slopping hill, and both tire tracks are rivers...you could almost kayack down our road.
Glad it is heavy rail road rock or would wash away.

I am making Cioppiono, and sent DH to get a crab, we have sea food mix here already...sauce is done.
It is shell fish stew, Italiano style...we usually have sometime before Christmas....YUMMM!!

Here we make it with Crab, clams, green lips mussels or blue mussels, any kind of shell fish, NO FIN FISH!!
If you use Geoducks, chop, same with calimari...clean and slice...prawns calms, all go in whole and the clams need to be alive to be safe, never use a clam that is open, it is dead.
Lbster or crawdads can also go in...and then you need a bib to eat it cuz it is messy !
Have to have a salad with baby and Italian greens and a loaf of garlic sour dough bread.
