We have pump the water out from under our house, and so does my neighbor. I think that there is a problem with the footing drains around the house. It is thought that the down spouts are draining under the house rather than draining to the street drains. Even though we are not any where near a river, we still have problems with water here on the plateau. I have seen the water standing over half of our backyard, during rains like what they say is coming tomorrow. At least my girls will be dry if they want to be. DH built a cover over part of the run. So the only one that will get wet is me when I run out to check on the girls and collect the eggs. My Wyandotte girls are now laying.

My New Hampshire hen that laid her first egg on Sunday has had an egg every day since, some less than 24 hours apart!!! I don't use lights, and the only heat is a radiant pet pad in the nest box! She's an egg laying machine! When DD checks the nest box, Chirp will hop up and roll the egg toward her.

On our side of Washington (Eastern) we get heat lightning, but no snow thunder. We ground-to-cloud and cloud-to-cloud lightning. We have lightning of different colors too, depending on the heat, humidity, etc. I have seen trees that have been hit by lightning, the bottoms (base) are usually exploded and the pitch is crystalized. I have seen telephone poles hit, and there is glass at the base of them where it went through the dirt. Rare Feathers can tell you about the lightning hit that struck up in the trees past her house, caused a fire and it swept down the valley, almost taking out her house. It burned down a historical landmark school, very near her. This happened 2 summers ago (if I remember correctly).

We get some crazy storms. We have had funnel clouds, that are uncatoragized, but it has knocked down trees and ripped a roof off of the Stampede grounds grandstand, a number of years ago.

About 20 years ago we had snow lightning. I had never heard of seen such a thing. And I certainly had never seen it. My son and I were driving North on I5 just past Everett and could see all the way up to where we lived in Arlington, back starting up into the hills. The clouds were lighting up with blues and aquas and amazing oranges!!! Just a phenomenal light show!! It lasted a long time. Hours,,, Till we got home and beyond. Long enough for SonBoy to get out and play in the snow till late late. Got a great layer of snow that time too. Nice and deep. I forgot about that lightning. I have wondered what would cause such a thing.

I thought LaNina was supposed to give us cold and snow and more cold. Not abby normal warm temps and rain.. I was looking forward to more great snow.
Did LaNina have a sex change and become El Nino...?

I like frozen chicken yards better than uck mucky goo...
