Ive been giving my chickens rabbit pellets off and on for at least a year. My last rabbit was last week so Ive been feeding them the chickens a can of rabbit feed everyday, and since I did that I got an egg a day,w hich is better than no eggs in the last two months. They havent choked or croaked yet. I gave them to me older leghorns, and my younger light sussex hens with no problems. Today they also got corn to help with the cold.

A 20 pound beet huh? Im gonna look into that after I get caught up on my chores.

Not much fun here .... I'm making my kids catch up on all their homework. Alex did not have much, only a history chapter to outline and a book to read, but DD got 2 pages of math per day (A gift from the teacher for all the kids who don't do their drills quick enough ... subtraction and division) Plus he sent home about another 20 pages that were too messy for him to accept. Maybe we can play a board game and have some pie at midninght.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I did vote in the morning just before dashing out the door to endorse the insurance check ... $5,100. I hope the car can be repaired for near that amount. How's she doing now?

My Silver Laced Wyandottes are at the bottom of the pecking order. I brought the girls a huge serving bowl of hot porridge (oatmeal, meuseli, wild rice, barley, sunflower seeds and a pear). There should have been enough room for them all to crowd around the bowl, but they would mauever themselves so the Wyandottes could not get in. A few times a hen would march right through the bowl to reach something better on the other side, and the poor Wyandottes would have to satisfy themselves with what they could eat off the feet of the other hens.
