Curious...............................
Why did you sign the check before receiving total repair costs?
Did the damage control adjuster give you a statement in writing they'd cover over that?

Or is that the limit your car is valued at before they consider it totaled?

We had the car towed to Greencar. The mechanic there took a look at it and thinks it can be done for $5,600, though there is a major part that can't be checked until the engine is out. It is going to get a new engine as we could not locate a rebuilt with low enough mileage. He suspects that the other major part is not damaged (the dealer assumed it was damaged - part is $2,900 plus labor)). Insurance said if the repairs are over $6,000 (or $5,500 since we pay the deposit), they will total the car. At that point we'd have to get a replacement car with whatever they give us. I think the Blue Book is about $10,000. We figured if that other part is not damaged, this is the cheapest way to get out of the mess, and if it is damaged, Don only wants another TDI engine, and there were only a few used ones we found in a price range we could afford, and they were all older than our car and have at least double the current miles.

I just hope it works out! We need the car back soon. I'm driving 140 miles a day if I have to drive Don in to work and pick him up (2 hrs one way by bus! no good connections).

Happy New Year!

Happy New Years!!!

For the past 50 minutes I've been watching teenagers in 4 cars try and drive up the icy hill in front of my house. They make it most of the way up the hill, but the street is a sheet of ice in front of my place .... another 70 feet and they'd be on a plowed road, but they just can't get there. I think they missed their party! We had a good laugh watching the fools .... 3 cars bumper to bumper being pushed up by a fool in one of those pick-ups that is lifted so high you need a ladder to get in, and they all spun off! At some point, you'd think they would give up, but they are sill trying! He's gunning his engine like mad, but the only direction they all go is back down the hill or off in a ditch (luckily shallow).

The pumpkin pie I made tastes like crap, bleh! Kids like it as it is waaay too sweet. I think that was a Cinderella pumpkin. The canned stuff tastes better. Lemon Merringe came out wonderful! We are eating it still warm from the oven.

Best wishes for a wonderful New Year everyone!

I'm off to bed, DS just beat me at a game of Dragonology, and I needed only to roll a 1,2 or dragon eye to win for my last 20 turns. I hope my hens are warm enough .... sure is chilly out there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR WASHINGTON! Wishing you all the best for the new year ahead of us! Hope this year brings happiness, peace and prosperity and good health to all!

yes, eat BEPs! I think it's a Southern tradition. Although I'm from Texas and we do it too. I remember eating them with my great grandparents.
