Here in the eastern part of Kansas I don't believe the weather forecasts until I see it. It is never as they predict. The last snow storm we were told we would get 2 to 4 inches of snow and all were got was 1/8 of sleet. Also here TV station will have diffident forecast.

I look forward to believing in weather forecasts when we move.

I was thinking about him just last night. Glad to hear he's doing better.

Tropicalchicken, I live in Kitsap County. I also rent. Rent varies alot in this county. South Kitsap is cheaper than North Kitsap, as it is more sparse. But rent's usually run anywhere from $500.00 a month all the way up to $1500.00 a month. My husband and I were lucky enough to find a 2 br house on 3 acres for $750.00. In most places, so long as you have a provable income, and do not have a major criminal history, it is easy to get into places. North Kitsap is mainly a rural county, but the big attractant to the penninsula is its close to Seattle. For the most part Kitsap county is a fairly nice area, but we do have our more shady comunities... If you have any specific questions, I will do my best to answer them for you.

Then don't move to Washington! I've never seen such terrible forecasts!

That's funny, although I agree with JB that they have gotten much better in the last few years. I usually just figure that any weather will arrive 1-6 hours later than forecasted. Seems to work.
I saw a TV special a few years ago about forecasting the weather here, they said it was the least accurate in the US. That since the gulfstream blew west to east, that the rest of the country just had to look west to see what was headed their direction. Here there were virtually nothing west of us. Few ships, weather buoys, no islands etc.

I have to agree forecasting has gotten better. Due to improved accuracy of darts. However the problem is that not all the weather men/women use the same brand of dart board. Thus the difference in forcasts.

Wow, thanks everyone for the information on moving. Cheryl we can go up to about 1100.00 per month, but I would prefer to keep it under 1000, we need a three bedroom and I don't ever want to live in a bad neighborhood. I am hoping my sister can help us come up with something, as I would prefer not to have to pay for a ticket out of here just for my husband to look for a place, then come back and have to pack everything up. It would help with the money aspect for sure.

I love it here in North Pend Oreille County .

Yes it gets cold, but as mentioned, you get the seasons. Fall is especially lovely here with all the colors (And the train rides through the forest). It doesn't rain near as much as the west side.

The county is also well equipped for snow. I have never ever seen such clear roads. When we lived in Portland, the city came to a screeching halt because of lack of equipment to handle the snow. (In their defense, it is silly to maintain a fleet large enough to keep a city clear with the few instances of more then 3 flakes of snow a year.)
Where we lived in the rural area of Oregon City, they didn't even plow or deliver mail. In the Christmas Storm of 2008, we were isolated with no electricity for almost a week.

Can you tell I love it here?
