So I have 13 babies hatched so far in the last 4 days...I have lost count of exactly what ...several OEs and few Ameraucanas that are adorable blue babies.
Some Silver Cuckoo Marans and some BC Marans
Had my Mexican amigo Mario stopped by with his new baby sone Julian, 3 months old and rolly polly!
They buy every egg I have for sale, he wanted 10 dozen !!!
Holy Moley I told him, not in the dark of winter...the girls do not lay every day.
So he bought the 2 dozen I had and wants the other 8 tomorrow.
Wish I spoke Mexican a little better.
DH's Aunt is from Spain and she cannot understand much Mexican at all.
They have their own dialects like the Italians and Portugese, I guess.
DH pokes me in the ribs and says as the Mexicans are leaving "tell him to back up right over here" I said yeah right, let me get my little translater book out...

I suppose I should practice it more...the area is flooded with Latinos that work at the crab and oyster packing out here.
He bought a breeding pair of California Meat Rabbits from me last spring..and he has had many barbeques and made rabbit tamales he said. In fact he said he would bring me some rabbit tamales tomorrow.

These people will survive !!!
DH teases Mario that they can make 150 tamales from 1 small chicken.
Last time we went to their home he busted out the "home made tequila" from his family in Mexico...wow, it was like sherry, not at all like our american tequila.
Reminded me of brandy/sherry.
Most definitely a sipping thing...for me anyway!

If any of you needs to sell eggs/birds/ even roosters, get ahold of someone in the Latino Community near you and let them know, and you will have customers.
You can leave a note at a Mexican grocery with the owners even !
They also will buy goats or sheep...to milk and to eat.
They also get cilantro, ensalada and tomatillos from me.
My tomatillos did not do so good last year...do not know why other than I try to grow them like tomatoes and they are really not related but are related to the chinese lantern.
For those of you that have not eaten tomatillos, you are missing a treat !
Ripe tomatillos are green, and have a zesty taste which reminds me of a lime and tomatoe crossed.

Chicky, I'm going to go out tomorrow and check and see if my garlic is up. I think we planted about the same time. I'm jealous you have lettuce. Really need to get seeds ordered and get to planning. Feeling really lazy lately. So burnt out at the end of the season my body goes into zombie mode. Hard to even get my butt up to get out and do the winter pruning at my accounts. Wish I could afford to just do farming. Uh, the grass will start growing soon too, that means mowing. Well, at least that will be good for the horses. Help with the feed bill. Got to get out there and get the greenhouse cleaned up too. No energy. Maybe I need to do one of those body detox cleansing things.

Do you or anyone else know of someone who has heritage Delawares in WA? non hatchery eggs or chicks?

Nope, it's a natural dog/cat retailer but they've expanded 3 fold (it seems like) in the last few years. http://www.mudbay.us/

Is that where you ferment the fruit in a jar for some days or weeks, adding what? Sugar to it as you go? Years ago my mom made something similar and used to pour the fruit over ice cream. I hadn't thought of that in years. I know she had gotten a starter from a friend.
