I read that pruning shears will work. I am planning to try it this spring. DH has always done the dirty deed in the past. But I need to quit being a wuss, and do it. I am afraid that I won't have the strength to get the knife through the neck bones. We do give the knife a very good sharp edge before we start.

Okay how about 2 parties. The summer party will be in Ellensburg or Cle Elum. Cel Elum has a brand new community center. It rents for 95 dollars per hour. There is no kitchen access, but we can bring a pot luck into the center. It hold up to 300.

I also have a girl friend that has a large field that I can ask if she would rent out to us. She runs a Dog boarding facility just south of town, and is very easy to find. There would not be water or bathroom access, as far as I know. It maybe possible to rent a portapotty for the weekend.


As for the there get together earlier this year. Does anyone want to meet for a pot luck in the mid to south sound? I can check with Olympia, and Lacy and see if they have senior centers that rent in our budget range.

DH has left for Vegas this morning and will not be back till about the 21st. So I am on my own, and my job is to keep the crew alive until he returns. So now I am off to bed.


PS there is a lot more room in the bed without the DH in it.

It's not like I won't be hanging off the edge anyway. I am telling you all that nasty little dogs are bed hogs. I am rather grateful that the big dog doesn't want to get in bed with us.

We have had winds coming from the East for the past couple of days. The wind feels bitterly cold. I know that it can get a lot colder, but that just makes me cranky.

On the east side in the winter which way does the wind usually come from. Here in Kansas it always comes from the northwest in the winter.

I hang mine from a tree by one leg grab its head, say a few works of thanks and just cut the head off with Buck knife then quickly walk away.

1 baby is white with clean shanks... but came from a maran egg! so what color do you think it will be?

If it is a white chick from Black Copper Marans it is a Wheaton crop out but won't be a true Wheaton. I had one of those from a batch of ebay eggs. Turns out that hen layed the darkest egg of any of that hatch and the egg never lightened, even at the end of her cycle.

Chicky, It is probably the line of birds. My first Barnevelders were not flighty but skittish while everyone says they are a mellow bird these were not mellow at all. I have switched lines and the new ones are much more calm. I once had EEs and they were crazy.

Is there anything wrong with feeding them dry cat food? Maybe soaked in milk?

Well, thats what I've been trying to find out. I had asked a while back and also on other threads if anyone has fed dry dog food and haven't heard if anyone has actually done it yet.
