Breeding Lavender to Blue is just fine, because you're going to get splits anyway, so who cares? You're choosing the BLACK chick, not the blue one, to breed back to the lavender.

No harm.

I know they don't need the chow.. they get to smell a scoop of it each morning (so basically just nibbles) less than 1/4 c each once daily. Mostly for the vit's in it. They get loose mineral and baking soda, plus a lick. They eat orchard grass hay, plus whatever they forage on walks periodically--mostly salal right now, or clippings from some of the cedar trees, and dogwoods (when leafy). and a palm full of the licorice goat treats, and cut up apples and carrots or punkins or stuff like that too. They are pretty spoiled little lawn ornaments right now. I know Nigies can get fat, just like a pygmy, so I try to be conscious of their diet. BoSe... do you have to do some sort of test to see if they are getting enough Selenium? Or just assume because we are in a deficient area they need it either way? They like BOSS's very well...

does all that sound pretty ok to you? I plan to breed them next fall--because of our summer schedule, I missed our window of opportunity. I will stress so much I will turn inside out ...

lol! I don't know if I am excited for kids or not! haha!!

CR.
Yes I saw all of that BUT they still don't tell the effciency or burn time. Only heat output and emmissions.

There is not one wood stove out there that you should trust what they say for burn times.
Go back and read what they said. Notice under lab conditions stated?
Wood stove efficiency is all about how the stove is set up.
How long a pipe
Where you live temp wise getting a good draw.
What kind of wood.
Moisture of wood.
Operators experience at burning wood.

One of the reasons I gave the link to that forum is it helped educate myself greatly on burning wood.
So many things I never gave a second thought to I now realize do make a difference in how long my load will last.
What kind of heat I'll get out of it. etc.

I saw burn times of 10 to 14 hours with enough coals left to start another fire. I be satisfied with ten hours.
We've been heating with wood only now going on 22 years and tired of getting up in the middle of the night with my small stove putting wood in.

After being on that site just observing others, learning who has credibility there, I then was able to determine these stoves I recommended are great deals from all the posts.
In fact next season one of them is on my to buy list.

People on that site who have owned multiple stoves and keep coming back to those stoves and reading posts after post of people happy with them that is why I highly recommend them.

If anyone goes to forum link lot of times you'll hear the term New Englander 30 or new Englander 50 or 15.
They are talking about those stoves.
New Englander from I saw a while a go is coming out with a new model that is suppose to even top those but probably a chunk of change I'd imagine.
Of course I'd like the new one but if one of those models does 75% of what people rave about on that forum I'll be extremely happy.

Greg Just to keep it clear. I was not trying to get into a dispute over these stoves. I was simply trying to add info that should be considered before buying a stove. This is also one of those things that some people will like it and some won't. Ya know like Ford, Chevrolet or Dodge.
I personally love my Blaze King and it would really take a lot for me to give up 85% effciency and 24+ hour burn on one charge of wood.

Your safe! lol Its PSE that needs to worry.

I REALLY wish I had a wood stove... Even with my furnace set at 65* I am freezing. I guess it doesnt help that my dear sweet daughter only let me sleep for 3 hours last night... But I had a decent day even with the lack of sleep. I FINALLY got my truck back, and its fixed! Yeay! Now to replace the O2 censor, and I should be completely good to go. Earlier I coulda done a happy dance, but now my brain feels like its trying to escape through my temples. Drinking some hot pepermint tea, took some excederin an hour ago, and am still waiting for it to help.

T I bought some of his stuff at the show in Chehalis.. The ducks loved it. I was worried.. a little.. about them eating it, because it is so fine. Anyone else know about this? Maybe if who ever is meeting him could ask him specifically about ducks? I actually put handfuls down on the ground in lil piles, and everyone swarmed the piles.. they loved it.

Also-- are you guys feeding the All Purpose to EVERYONE? including the goats?? I always worry (can you tell I worry.. A LOT) about selenium and stuff for the goats.....

I really want to switch to his foods, and I am about ready to pick up more poultry food. T--they also have a 'drop spot' in Auburn, down of West Valley I think.... He told me where, I can't remember. Let me know if you want to try some.. I really am going to need to get something pretty soon....

Also, CMSDVM--if you are lurking around, let me know if you are also interested. I'll get in touch later with you too... just in case.

right right.. duh.. thank you!

Jbear- I'm a little worried that if I give them crumbles again then I will have alot of waste. With the pellets I find that the little messy butts will eat them off the ground after they spill most of them!
