That's a true sign of a good cook !!!

I don't eat anywhere that has a SKINNY cook.

Then come here for dinner - fat cook (me) and I made a huge dinner tonight. Lots of left-overs because it was not so good. (normailly everyone loves my cooking). DH and I decided we would try vegetarian and fish dishes from around the the world once a week. Got out my Moosewood cookbook, and it starts with Africa ... apparently none of us likes African food. Sure smells good, but taste is not so good.

West African Peanut soup - onions, ginger, chili peepers, carrots, yams, veggie stock ... saute and blend then add peanut butter and lots of V-8 in an attempt to thin it out, garnish with chives. I managed to make 1 cup of peanut butter expand to 10 cups of spicy peanut butter .... that is all I could taste, and it was nearly as thick!

C???? (somewhere in southern Senegal) Stew - fish marinated with onions, chili pepper, lemon juice, vinegar, soy sauce ... then grill the fish, saute the onions with red bell peppers and yams, served over rice (served over millet, but we have none).

Salad - cabbage, carrots, pineapple. dressing: lemon huice, orange juice oil - no one was willing to even try this - still in the fridge.

Good thing is I managed to use up much of the vegetables in this weeks CSA box...

JMHO but at 50+ I have come to realize a little too late that I don't think any women needs to look to a man for anything but companionship. Every woman needs to work to bring in enough of her own income so in the event that the man should violate that companionship that she is able to comfortably hit the road and get the heck out of dodge if she feels the need to do so. Do not be in so deep with a man that your only option for escape is to be put out on the street or welfare and give up everything you have worked so hard for in your life. If you have a young child, go for the health benefits also although usually the state will step in to take care of the child. Just don't get in too deep. Keep your load light. You never know. Your first priority is you and your child. My opinion may be tainted so take or leave what ever you wish from this. Just open your eyes. If your significant other has incurred unreasonable expenses due to their bad behavior by all means do not take it upon yourself to work yourself to the bone to get yourselves out of debt. That is enabling. Just leave the responsibility up to him, tell him to get a second job and stir his own stew pot and you are planning to GET THE HECK OUT OF DODGE while the gettin is still good if he doesn't! But of course, there is still forgivness and forgiveness and forgiveness and yada yada yada, blah blah blah. What the frick ever. I sincererly wish you the very best and much happiness.

Honey, it sounds like you have been burned. Unfortunately, I am in a situation where the DH and I are hangin' on by a string (emotionally). I have been preparing for the past (I dunno) 5+ years that he may leave me. It is scary. I hope all is well with you now, Cow girl.

I just spent my Visa world points on one. It arrived a couple weeks ago. I find I must normally make my coffee very strong, as all the samples tasted week to me, so I spent $17 for one of those thingies (technical term) that you can put your own grounds into.

I know the "thingy" you speak of...$17 crimmie....I paid less than $10
