You will get shocked. LOL But they are pulsing type chargers which means in between pulses it will let you let go!

You know, I have to admit, I am in no way a bantam fan, but after raising a couple frizzled and smooth white bantie Cochins lately for meat, oh my, they are SOOO friendly and SO darn cute!! I hardly pay much attention to them except to feed and water them, but yesterday they found a way out of their run, and came barreling down the grassy hill towards me, cute little fluff-balls, and let me scoop 'em right up. They were just so friendly!!

Still, not going to actually buy any to raise and keep, but I definitely see why people love them!!

Yes, the cochins are the girls for 4-H, they are perfect for them to work with. But they have won me over too!

Talk about closed circuit fences. A while back I thought that was how you were supposed to do all electric fences. Did not read any instructions. Seemed self explanatory since that was how my dad did it. Well, this charger I was useing was supposed to be open ended only I wired it closed so I had the wire running up over the gate to the other side. I was climbing over the metal gate, so not standing on the ground, and my head touched the wire. Bam, I got jolted so hard I fell off the gate and bit my tongue. Thank God for pulsing chargers. By making it a closed circuit you get the FULL jolt of electricity not just the normal jolt the box is set up to put out. Maybe thats why I'm such an airhead these days. Thought it was just old age.

This story isn't as dangerous but just as stupid, my neighbor who built his own house, so you'd think he knew a thing or two about electricity, got some horses and was putting up an electric fence for them. He put metal T-posts in the ground and was attaching the wire directly to the T-posts. WTH?

Just make sure whatever you put up that you fully understand what you are doing. When in doubt, ask for experienced help.

ug. The dogs are still at our house. We tied up the heeler and gave them food and water. The other one sticks around cuz his buddy is tied up.

I don't want to take them to the shelter, I hope someone steps up and claims these guys.


I candled the eggs in the incubator the other day and it seems everyone is doing good in there! Hatch day is the 11th.

I enjoyed WA-4's pics of the deer in her yard so much, it reminded me of a few of my favorites. At the family getaway house at Ocean Shores, the deer are pretty well tolerated, but as a result the deer are a little bold sometimes. One day on my way home after visiting a friends gallery, I saw this guy by the side of the road. Not only did he not run when I stopped the car and got out, but he continued to walk closer to me as he munched his lunch. He was at one point just a few feet away and posed for a few pics. It was rutting season though, and finally a pretty doe caught his attention and he finally bounced away.
