I love Greek style yogurt, but often have difficulty finding a low sugar kind, except at Trader Joes. I mix a little sugar free raspberry jam in mine when I'm craving a late night snack instead of having ice cream. I bookmarked the page to possibly try it out. Maybe I could make my own every couple of weeks.

I would call before if you can and get the address too. smile

Good point. Thanks for making the arrangements - we're looking forward to getting our bag of chicken crack! BTW - how's that turner working out? Did you get it into your wine cooler incubator?

Poor girl. Do you think she's in shock? Good luck - hope all goes well with her. Ack. I'm scared right along with you now.

cowgirlgrace...: Thanks for not posting a big picture of your wet & bloody roo.

Yup, that would have created some pretty big clawmarks on my ceiling for sure.

Childhood tramas!!
I saw one too many chicken slaughters and wet chickens waiting to get their feathers pulled out as a wee little one.
But last summer I decided to get some ducks, so now I can actually go into the duck pen to catch my ducks, almost without raising my heart beat too much.
Its the muscovy ducks I have problems with, and beaks. Those muscoveys look too much like a chicken.

IMP : thanks for the tip on the smileys. I thought my computer was starting to quit on me again.

Do you have a cow zapper? Maybe you could rig one around your coop, including the roof.
I need to do that too, but I only have a wimpy dog zapper.
I have cougars, cyotes and bears in my part of the woods...probably bob cats too.

so far so good.

I have a .410 SHotgun here and a .22 Rifle. I've used both in the past against Bobcats and Cougar.

Yes, we have those here......

I've never seen a bobcat out here before but I know we have them. I was honestly very shocked that of all animals it was a bobcat. We have electric fencing around, but only in certain areas. The back main pasture where the girls can actually forage isn't protected by anything but a fence, which works really well to my surprise, and a yak if I let him out. He wasn't out during the time, but he is now. And I hope he continues to prove VERY useful and protective of the flock!

Everything you need you can get at a feed store. One of my 4Hers had a dog attack one of his favorite BR hens and she had a big laceration next to her vent (complete with fat hanging out) as well as some smaller lacerations on her back. I had them keep her in isolation, and flush it out twice a day with diluted betadine solution, and then spray the smaller cuts with blue kote, and use an antibiotic ointment packed into the larger laceration. They also put her on duramycin powder in her water for almost 2 weeks. It took just over a month total, but she is back in with the rest of the flock happy and healthy.
