kinda fun since you don't know what you will get! but the orginizer does try and match pures to pures, mix to mix, LF to LF etc etc ya get the idea.

Look on the map, Canby is just outside of Troutdale, not too far for me, but would still involve an overnight stay so maybe I can't go..got too many birds...

After the first of the week, my Blue Ameraucana eggs will go on the auction, so far they are really fertile and hatching really beautiful chicks.
I am getting (out of 10 chicks that hatch) about 8 blues and about 2 black or less.
I have not gotten any splash yet.

Really nice beards/muffs/excellent color, Cree lines.
I had 3 eggs left in the little incubator this morning and was going to dump it when I saw a pip..one more just hatched a day late, out of a gorgeous olive egg, Hen a black OE and Cock a purebred Blue Am.
Beautiful little chick.
So I have 2 eggs left in there, one had a ? on it as was unsure at last candle and the other may just be a failure to pip, but who knows ?
Better waite a while more!
Well, off to cook dinner and be back later.

cheryl Looks like you are doing fine. Better than I would. Give me some very nice lumber and I will produce a big pile of very nice sawdust.

But give me some iron and I will build something.

Also did you ever figure out how to securely attach your nest boxes on the outside. If not I have some pointers.

Maybe your husband needs to stand up to his mother and tell her to leave her dogs home, or is there some reason why they have to come?

Here is my little temporary coop. Finally! I am so computer illiterate!

I still need to frame in the door so it can't be pushed in, and it will look nicer, and I have to attatch the A-frame to the floor wood, but I have plenty of time. The only things I had to buy, was the hardware, we had all the wood lying around. The sides and base were panels from a wood crate. If I was going to actually use it for a long period of time, I could put corugated roofing on it. But I am not going to do that at this point. Right now I have a piece of plastic stapled on to the top so no rain can get in that way. It will also be place under cover in the run, so it should be fine. I just like the fact that I was able to do this all by myself! No help from DH.

Someone on another thread suggested a dutch door, which I think is a brilliant idea. You can open the door, but the girls can't all run out. I think we're going to put in one of those.

Well I'm pretty impressed. I think you've gotten a lot done without "knowing" what you're doing.

I second that!!!
