Rainwolf really is the Great Networker, or whatever her title was. I like the idea of a BYC co-op. Illia, hold the edges of your house down in that wind. CR, thank you for the nice Valentine wishes for everyone.
I just looked at the weather forecast and I'll be darned, it says RAIN. Rain today, tomorrow and apparently for the next week. This is not helping my building plans at the moment. If it was sprinkling maybe, but nooooo... Getting ready to make some kind of "healthy" brownies for Valentines' Day, with lower sugar, wheat flour, protein powder, I don't know what else. I've been attending a "Back on Track" workshop at St. Francis Hospital and this is one of the recipes our workshop instructor gave us. We'll see how they turn out. DH and I are taking each other to lunch at Pomodoro today. It's a little Italian restaurant in the Proctor District with pretty good food! LOVE their eggplant parm, but thinking I might try something else today.
Happy Valentine's Day to all BYC'ers, your families and pets!

I'll take your rain forecast over my rain today and SNOW for the next few days! My coop building was stalled in the "nice" weather because I was in Oregon visiting family, then came home with one whopper of a head cold! I'm still sick (today my left ear feels clogged, giving me headache, loss in hearing, and equilibrium issues), but I feel good enought to try to build...now the weather isn't cooperating again. I just keep telling myself that it's "okay" if it isn't done when I go to get them...they won't "need" it for at least 8 weeks after that! It isn't working though...I'm starting to hyperventilate because it isn't finished yet!

As for the co-op idea...I love it! But, my brown thumb never let's me produce more than I can can eat if I save it up for one meal, lol. I do have a nice old canning pot with all the accessories though.

I haven't used it since we moved to WA though.

Last thing I made was apple & Pear butters (drove to Hood River and came home with boxes of both) and some plum jelly/jam (I got tired of peeling them...they were from an ornamental tree!). I still have loads of them too...I always make way more than I can eat, lol. I am more than willing to group up in the Spokane area and help can though! It is always more fun in a group.

I got Fuyu & Hachiya once & they both did not make it.
My Isu is half dead from last year's cold spell. Maybe I need to build a green house or solar reflectors around that tree.

My mother in law's neighbour has a tree that produces soooooo much that she has a hard time keeping the branches growing upward.
Lucky for me I get a fair share of the fruit every year.

Chocolate is what I'm plannig to get, along with it's pollinator.

Also wanted to mention that I knew someone with a large healthy persimmon in Seattle, rainier valley I believe.

You can call and talk to the horticulurists at Raintree, if you have questions.

I LOVE persimmons, they (a male and femals) and several cherries, are on my tree list this spring.
I got 3 apples, 3 pears, 2 apricots and 2 nectarines last year and they are doing great considering the nasty sub-freeze we had last fall before any of them even had gone dormant.
