Bobcats usually think they cannot be seen, and if they freeze, you will not see them.
If it continues to hold still out there despite your shouts, why not 'dispatch' the critter ?
I'd love to do the honors of "finishing" it, but all I have is a bow and arrow, otherwise. . . paintball gun is cheap, short distance firing, BB gun doesn't work at all (
) and our actual gun isn't mine to use. We have a crossbow too but I think they're illegal to actually use? Or is it only to hunt with?
I'd love to get a live trap though. . . And they sell them here in just the right size. . .
You wouls have to put a live animal in the trap or the cat will never go in...make a little 'box' out of hardware wire, and put a pet rat in it, and wire it in the from of the havaheart trap..and set it OUT there where the cat is lurking.
The Bobcat has a cycle, they constantly roam and do not hang around long, I think their cycle lasts about 2 weeks or so and they wind up back at your place.
Ours shows up like clockwork every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks.
They have several dens along the way, with one main den where they spray profusely and the cat pee stink will gag you as you approach.
They also enjoy walking around any farm or car on their route and spray them also.
We had our bobcat even spray the clothes on my clotheline!!
Anyway....they will not go for a can of cat food..they got to stalk live food.
I think one would fit in a regular havaheart trap.
