Every farm house in Korea had one or more persimmon trees when I lived there. Korea can be COLD in the winter, so I know there have to be hardy varieties.

Unless it just seemed cold because of the lack of central heat.

I'm a California girl by birth, but that is not always the safest thing to say in this state. What took you to Missouri?

Cheap land. We were tired of being able to see five different yards from our kitchen window.

Hello Neighbor.

If i were going to put in berry bushes, it would be blueberries. I wonder if the chickens would leave any for me?

Saw that one earlier. We've been raspberry hunting, but Ballard is really far away. We weren't expecting anything close though.

But we went ahead and ordered 50 raspberry starts from Raintree today!!

My Dad has the best raspberries in his yard, and he did not plant them in a conatiner, so they send out 40 shoots evey year and I plan on getting some soon, but I will plant them in some of those big boxes rather than have them send out suckers every year.
They have THE BEST raspberries...free.
So I am gonna get a bunch and probably plant extras in pots.

Exactly what we were thinking.

And to the reply about Persimmons from Raintree Nursery, honestly, I've never tried 'em before. I've always been curious of their Paw Paws too, but I'm sure they'd require a greenhouse or something, being native to hot and humid (or arid?) places and all.

It is REALLY WINDY out here!!

Bobcats usually think they cannot be seen, and if they freeze, you will not see them.
If it continues to hold still out there despite your shouts, why not 'dispatch' the critter ?

I'd love to do the honors of "finishing" it, but all I have is a bow and arrow, otherwise. . . paintball gun is cheap, short distance firing, BB gun doesn't work at all (

) and our actual gun isn't mine to use. We have a crossbow too but I think they're illegal to actually use? Or is it only to hunt with?

I'd love to get a live trap though. . . And they sell them here in just the right size. . .

Candling
tutorial for everyone to see.
These photos are absolutely awesome !

Anyone want great raspberries, I can dig some at Dad's and mail bareroot to you.
Postage should not be very much.
Cheaper than buying them !!
He has baby Hazelnuts popping up all over too..and 2 baby Japanese redleaf lace leaf (?) maple trees, I glommed onto them and will plant in my bonsai containers.
I have transplanted the Hazelnut last year, and it is growing great and has nice fat buds right now.
I love those sweet nuts...We get 5 gallon bucket fulls of English Walnuts and Apricots from FiL's place in NorCal.
Apricots ready to pick in April, Walnuts in November.

Parts for the van brakes finally came in, so will be installed tomorrow, and maybe ready to make the trip to Illia's on Wednesday !!!
With Buns, and smart pills, and I hope 2 water tanks.

Chickielady will be the first and only member on here who gets to see my stuff

Someone has GOT to tell me what Persimmons are like.

You wouls have to put a live animal in the trap or the cat will never go in...make a little 'box' out of hardware wire, and put a pet rat in it, and wire it in the from of the havaheart trap..and set it OUT there where the cat is lurking.
The Bobcat has a cycle, they constantly roam and do not hang around long, I think their cycle lasts about 2 weeks or so and they wind up back at your place.
Ours shows up like clockwork every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks.
They have several dens along the way, with one main den where they spray profusely and the cat pee stink will gag you as you approach.
They also enjoy walking around any farm or car on their route and spray them also.
We had our bobcat even spray the clothes on my clotheline!!

Anyway....they will not go for a can of cat food..they got to stalk live food.
I think one would fit in a regular havaheart trap.

I cannot waite to see those veloceraptors !!
I will take lots of pictures to show my M&D who have no idea there is anything BUT leghorn chickens.
Marans blew their minds...Olive Eggers blew them away too..but a Shamo will probably freak them out for good !!
