My Dad has the best raspberries in his yard, and he did not plant them in a conatiner, so they send out 40 shoots evey year and I plan on getting some soon, but I will plant them in some of those big boxes rather than have them send out suckers every year.
They have THE BEST raspberries...free.
So I am gonna get a bunch and probably plant extras in pots.

I put in 16 blueberries last year and made 2' wide circles of 2x4 feild fencing around each bush to protect them from my birds..but they can stick their heads right through 2x4 wire

So they got the first year's berries.
This year I plan on getting 10 or so more until the entire orchard is planted in fruit and berries.
Strawberries are my fav, but the slugs get them..unless I plant them in hanging planters like my Dad did off the rain gutters all around the back of his house...but I have zero eaves on this barn.

Good to know about the Bobcat stuff. I should wander into the forest where it constantly comes out of and track down where it may be living. All I know is that for several days now it comes out of the same section of forest each time. I don't have any rats to offer it though. The most I have are some bantam "cochin" (they have 5 toes) roosters I've yet to cull

They're soooooo cute and friendly.

Someone has GOT to tell me what Persimmons are like.

Oh they are heavenly! imagine taking a tomato, combining it with a nectarine, and then add a pumpkiny finish. It's hard to explain the taste but it is my favorite fruit. They tend to do pretty well in western washington, at least the Fuji dwarf persimmon. The only problem is the window of time you have to eat them all. (not really a problem) when they're ripe you have about 2 weeks tops and they tend to ripen all at once. about 5 years of fruiting one tree will give you more than you can handle of course there is always persimmon jam!
