Welcome Newbies! And I forgot to mention that I am doing my part in passing on the chicken addiction to the younger generation. I have a young girl who wants to get a few chickens and is getting things in order so she can get them at the end of March. I had her check out BYC and gave her some books. She is a total researcher! It's sooo nice to see that I can pass on my "wealth of knowledge" and start the addiction in a new family!

Must be the variety. I find the plant to be even more wicked than scotch broom, and nearly tied with blackberry vines. There was one on our property when we bought it, I thought it was so pretty. 2 years later and we have HUNDREDS of them, any that I can reach, I saw to the ground and try to kill. Some parts of the yard are just too steep.

Lovely pond, BTW.

Thanks for the cackle spackle link - for a while my RIR looked like she was trying to fill some jars of blackstrap molasses! She is doing much better now, and even eating some real food. Must have burned out on the flock block!

I, like Imp have had very little success in getting starts off mine. 1 free seeded in 5 years.

I would love to have a whole hedge of them but no go. Mine are labeled ad dwarf and are a beautiful deep purple but not in the least invasive. What color are the invasive ones?

Yes Rus I would love to give them a try but location location location. I don't get up that way so would have to try to find someone who would be willing to be the messenger!! The bad part of living out in the STYX. The good is that I can have all the noisey critters I can tolerate!!!!

They are a very pretty lavender purple with a little red dot in each bloom .... I'll look to see if I have any photos. The blooms are so pretty ... too bad the plant is so invasive ... I feel the same about foxglove. I'll check my photos.
