Anyone having 20 or 30 little gils over had better have ear plugs...I can still hear the sharp shrill screams and laughter here now, I actually blame my tinnitus on them. Man, little gils can SCA_REEEEEEEEEEEM !!
And non stop giggling !!!
I think 6 or 8 is enough, 10 tops.
And have fun stuff like pizza and then make banana splits !!
better yet, take them to Baskin Robbins for triple scoop cones, and leave the sticking mess there

It was 23 overnight, and has warmed up to a downright balmy 36.
It will be a few days before my washing machine thaws out again...

Clarence begs for bread as bad as MOT.
Got a boston butt roasting in the oven so the whole giant little cabin smells wonderful..It will be great to have Cheryl & CCG come to visit !
Too bad it would be 2 different weeks, as you 2 could just about carpool from Gig Harbor.
Well, all caught up and I am going to go relax..oh, good news 2 days in a row, Abigail is laying again, and Clarence has been very attentive of her, so let's hope for fertility.

I posted the pics, and want to tell you to get s sharpie and mark the hole area, high and into the ribs on the bucket for big standard combed cock birds...then a 1/4" thick drill a hole on the line, then stick your jig saw or sawzall blade (use a metal blade not a wood blade) and cut it out.
You do not have to cut 2 holes, I do in a busy coop but 1 hole will work in a coop with 3 or 4 birds.
Clarence has a BIG head and comb and his bucket has the hole cut HIGH up into the ribs on the outside around the lip of the bucket.
Don't make the hole bigger LOWER or it will not hold enough feed.
Make the bottom of the hole 8 to 10 " from the bottom of the bucket, then draw the hole the size of the biggest bird's neck at about halfway to their shoulders..works great.

Thank you Oh so much CL! I think I've got it now! I just couldn't remember how high up the holes were, and I didn't want to waste buckets!

hole is as high as your bird's chinny chin chin, then they can reach in.
Too low, and they shovel food out.
Do not over fill or food will fall out as well.
With 6 birds and 1 bucket feeder I add 2 grain scoops per week, to keep it at about 2 " below the hole, or a bit lower, then they cannot scoop it out onto the floor, don't cut yourself !!
Don't drill yourself either!@!!

ug.. we have the flu sweeping through our house like a runaway train..

OK sorry but things got a little crazy for me here. So lets see if I have this right. This is who I have down for bells.
If I missed anybody please e-mail me @ [email protected] Trying to do this through PM's is too confusing for my little smaller than a chickens brain.

So I am running ramblings through my mind about the upcoming show, and that we will be leaving around 10 AM Friday and get there in early afternoon maybe2 or so, to coop in.
Then get comfortable at my son's place, go out and eat or whatever..check in on MOT, then beddy bye.
What time do they usually lock up the Gates ?
Just wondering the last time to go in & feed/water & clean cages.
Then in the morning the show, and as early as possible, we have to run back home again..
I also figured I would keeps the coops closed & locked.
The birds may get P.O.'d but better than dead.
Then I remembered the incubators and my blood ran cold.................
barnie.gif
....................oh no....so I am trying to see when my last set will pip & be done with...not in time
sad.png

So...I will have to be gone over night and just trust the incubator, so far I have never had to adjust it in any way.
It has 5 gallons of water so does not need me at all.
But then I remembered the chicks, and the Dellies should pip on March 19th !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jumpy.gif

Well, they will be a surprise I get to come to...
What about the Ams..hopefully Cheryl will be able to pick her babies up by then so I will not have 1000 chicks..but if I do, I will get a bigger feeder and a couple bigger water fonts, no problem, lights on timers..all should be fine.

It is a balmy 38 here !!
Still feels cold though, that heavy humidity cold.
I think I prefer the dry cold much better.

Yes I did trim their vents...it helps with fertility. I didn't take too much off because I didn't want people to not be able to see how truly fluffy they are...but it helps to just trim a little.

Clarence looks good. He's such a sweet roo...not a mean bone in his body!
