OMG, A hindu eating eggs is like a Jewish eating BBQ pork.
Why would the doctor tell her to do such a thing?? They wouldn't do that to jewish moms.
There are lots of good protein out there. And to have a meat spot. What are the chances!!
I guess to a Hindu, the main thing is that the eggs are absolutely not fertilized. That would be bad. I know many buddhist who eat no eggs either because they can't be sure that the egg is not fertilized. I mean look at my costco eggs. They were fertile. That is why I'm hatching all my eggs. Can't eat them ..they are alive.

I'll have to seperate the males once I'm done incubating ducklings so I can eat some eggs.

She said they eat lentils and other proteins every day, but their boy is very anemic. I should ask who her pediatrician is. There is only 1 in the North Bend Snoqualmie area, and he's Jewish (and very young). Until he started his practice a few years ago, I'd still drive to Woodinville Pediatrics ... Tried Pine Lake too, but they took just as long to get to). It took me a while to warm up to this guy ... he sometimes does not know how to word things in a respectful way. Everyone at Woodinville knew about DH's skin, and nobody ever made me feel guilty about it. I took DD in to this guy for an infection around a splinter on her foot, and he ripped me about her skin (he's a dermatologist too). He did lighten up a bit when nothing he prescribed cleared up her skin either.

On that line, I made pasta premavera yesterday with brown rice penne and pesto sauce. DD liked it after she pulled out every bit of broccoli, bell pepper, onion and tomato. She did eat the carrot though as I did not cook it. She chose panuts for a snack item today as the only other thing we have are nutri-grain bars and some girlscout cookies that DH bought. Not sure what is for dinner ... She wants steak. I want salmon. Got steak in the freezer, so I guess she wins.

My son goes to Redmond Ridge's Pediatric Associates.
Lots of Indian kids here. There is even a very nice indian lady doctor.
maybe she has a clue.

Very busy being chatty again I see...well, I guess I will go off and shower & cook dinner...Ogress, it appears to me that you should be able to chaise lounge out there with a reflector and get some good reflection and mebbe a nice rosy glow !!

and if someone needs protein so bad and cannot eat an egg, tell them to go get tofutty, tofu sausage & all sorts of phoney baloney made of tofu.
I had to cook for Jews at a retreat in California..and it was so hard in that red neck tiny town, to find kosher foods, but Hindus and Hare Krishnas can have tofu based phoney baloney, sausage & garden burgers. They are very yummy now days !!

How Eggstremely, eggsquisitely eggciting!!!!

The Brabant area of holland is where my mother is from, but they did not raise brabanters. She had Barnevelders. I think Brabanters look like Polish (which are also from Holland).

I want to see pictures of the chicks as they are developing.

These are Cream Brabanters of the breeder I've ordered from. Aren't they cool?

Cool chickens. SO excited for you!

I remember my Hare Krishna friend was always eating meatless Vienna Sausages. "You should try these, taste just like the real thing!"

No Thanks! They rate right up there with Spaghetti O's. Never understood the appeal of either - barf in a can. I would imagine the tofu ones had to taste better than the real ones, as they can't possible taste worse!

There is a secret meeting of the seattle hatchititus society...

,
Shhhhh.....saturday the 26th of March at Teapot Redmond.
3 knocks on the door will get you in, then sit yourself down... at the table by the fish bowl... in the far corner of the room.
There will be a blue hatching egg on the table.
We'll meet at sundown. It is a half moon night...we'll be safe...

Post your name here if you are coming. ( before the toll begins

If those that aren't hatching anything are welcome, I'll come! (seems like I had something on the calendar, kind of remember my friend saying "and it will be easy to remember as it is the day before your DH's Birthday!" Only I can't remember what it was, so I am choosing chickens over something I found worthy of forgetting!)

What breed? It won't be a DQ unless the remaining feathers are positive white or something (on a solid, speckled or otherwise colored bird)....it would however be a deduction in the overall "condition" of the bird....

Here's an example:

For all non-white Cochins:

62 points for shape (type) and 38 for color. Max possible points is 100 (to the best of my knowledge, no bird has ever been awarded 100 points).

Here's what makes up the 62 possible points for shape/type:

Condition & Vigor - 10 Points
Back - 6
Breast - 5
Comb - 5
Shanks & Toes - 5
Body & Stern - 4
Symmetry - 4
Tail - 4
Weight & Size - 4
Head & Face - 3
Wings - 3
Beak - 2
Ear Lobes - 2
Eyes - 2
Wattles - 2
Neck - 1

Here's what makes up the 38 possible points for color:

Back - 6 points
Breast - 5
Neck - 5
Wings - 5
Body & Stern - 4
Tail - 4
Shanks & Toes - 3
Ear Lobes - 2
Eyes - 2
Beak - 1
Head & Face - 1

I hope that helps a bit.
