Well that just about sums things up for the night crew once again.

and eenie 6 am is not good for old ladies. I can manage about 3 am, but after that and there is more wrong than meets the chicken poop.

It is one of those things where everything you eat cramps up & is immediately expelled (TMI?)
So, end up not getting much sleep.
I almost logged on in the middle of the night, but didn't want to wake DH...
Well, where is everyone ?
Sleeping in on Sunday ?

So you can really over candle them and Im sorry to say but some say it can kill them

So I would stop and let them go for a while like day 18 than see what doing on.Unless of course they start stinking..

What kills them? The light from the LED or the fact that I'm disrupting the temp of the egg?

movement, handling, lack of heat & lack of or sudden lack of humidity.

I was on at 3 am since niece had to be at the airport by 5am for a 6am flight. Ugh! Got home at 6 and been on the puter since catching up on stuff. Just got back to BYC to see whats up.

Are the Delawares due the 19th? I thought I read that. I had asked you in a previous post but not sure if you saw it, you had mentioned turning eggs around also. Wondering if you do that all the time and how often you do it. I had never heard of that.

Did you look at that Buckeye auction?

Here's a link to the broiler processing process. It is kind of graphic....but not too bad.

Dang, I need one of those pluckers! I heard that's the worst part!

Oh my gosh I want those kids.LOL I cant do it but you know I want some meat chickens this year.

Dang! Don't they make it look sooo nice & easy & fast ?
I cannot figure out where do the feathers go ?
Do they blow out the bottom of the tub ?
I always thought you had to reach in & scoop them out!

I guess all that is possible but other people argue that the mother hen is turning eggs and off the nest so whats the harm? I did read that you should wear gloves to keep oils and bacteria off the shells but if the hen gets off the nest each day the lack of heat and humidity was a natural regular occurence. I usually candle on day 7 so I can throw out the clears and make room in the bator then on day 18 before lockdown. Any more just takes up my time and is unnessesary but when I first started hatching I questioned my judgment and checked all the time. LOL, just couldn't take it. So eggciting.
