Here I was thinking that my eggs were going into lock down on the 18th but that is actually day 21. They go into lock down on the 15th. Hopefully we don't have a bunch of lazy Marans cause I want to go to the show on the 19th but don't want to leave the chicks in my DH's care. Don't know if he would be comfortable over seeing a hatch.

Are Marans notoriously late hatchers? Anybody know? Or is it more of an exception?

I think she was from the red-light district, and she is French. As Cisco would say Oooohhhh la la.

A friend of mine had a good hatch rate with egg that had been washed and stored in a refrigerator.

I was told not to wash my eggs, as it was not good for them. Thoughts everyone? I just wipe them off with a paper towel. My oldest DS was mortified...he tells me, "you do know they come from a chicken's but"...."Yes, dear I realize that. That is why I tell you to wash your hands after handling eggs". Sheesh, how stupid does my 17 yo think I am?

I wonder if the thing about washing the egg is more about how much it is handled before it is put into incubation. After all there are members that have hatched eggs from Trader Joe's successfully.

It just occurred to me that someone that has a problem with where the egg comes from, must not have ever been truly hungry. I can't ever remember worrying about where the egg came from as a kid or a teenager. But then I was raised with a mother that grew a garden that was important to the family.

I am telling you all the guy in the picture is blonde and my Tudy has black hair. So it isn't my Tudy.

So it would be really really bad if I e-mailed my Tudy and ask him to post his picture with him shirtless wouldn't it?

Hey JB!!!

I am suffering from a too close contact with gluten, weak & crampy and sick....

in & out of bed.
I gotta drive to Illia's in the morning so have to load the car with rabbit poop & crates

But I got it done.
OK we leave early in the morning for Forks!
