There is a debate as to whether or not that is poisonous to chickens. It seems to do with the scent of the cedar. So if the chicken have a lot of ventilation, then they seem to not have problems. Most of us just don't want to have the problem, so we just accept what we read about it. I have used a bag of cedar shavings without any problems in a brooder pen. I had a lot of ventilation in the brooder. You could always mix it in with the pine shaving to use up the bag if you can't return them.

I have used it in a plastic tote brooder and in nest boxes with no problems.

Wow, they lay turquoise eggs? I'd love to see those...

They've got Araucana in them.

Oh. Well I've seen those eggs. Love them.

I had written in DD's baby book some of her "sayings":
Mashed potatoes and Gravy = KFC
Taste the Rainbow = Skittles
Shopping = Walmart

Just to name a few. Too cute.

I know... Little'uns are just the best namers in the world.
My son called them...
Lawn Lowers
Chopdecopters
And when we were too noisy he would tell us we were being too Loudsy..
Think I need me some more Grandbabies... my youngest is 11. My youngest child is getting married in August so maybe there is hope if I can live so long. Really don't want to be one of those aged grandmas but I guess that is better than not at all

Show Quality Rhode Island Red bantams in.... Somethingorother.

I have to go jean-shopping tomorrow and I do not want to. Sigh. Stupid jeans, why do they have to get holes in them??

Oh, wait. It's because I insist on climbing trees and building useless structures and other activities that are hard on denim. I guess I deserve it.
