We get over 100 degrees for weeks at time in July and early August....NOT looking forward to that--or to my SIL's wedding which is August 6th and an OUTDOOR wedding.

But don't you all have low humidity?

It depends...we get a lot of thunder storms during the summer....some are "dry" lightning ones that start fire and others are with pouring rain...

Just made the reservations. So we are at the Guesthouse Inn and the DD (9 - actually 10 in 2 months) will be there. I will tell her that there will be other little girls there. She will have fun.

I may have said this before but my DH said no way!! no chickens!! they stink and poop on everything!!!! I said yeah yeah I know... He built me a chicken run the day I went to go get my chickens. Then he built me an indoor coop inside the shed the run was attached to. He did not want them to freeze. Then he got worried a coyote or dog would get them and brought me in a mini 14 rifle to protect them. Then he shot at the coyote twice himself to protect them. THEN he bought me an incubator so I could hatch eggs. He watched the whole thing with me and added water for me when I was away. Then he insisted I get my lone Serama his own wives when I borrowed a big rooster and broke his heart (thanks JBear!). Then he goes out and talks to them every day and checks to make sure they are ok. Then he started catching the shy or mean ones and petting them so they will be tamer. NOW he is making the indoor coop bigger and helping me make another pen for more chickens... he he he...

mine's turning into a big chicke softie too .... I used to have llamas and he was the same way, called them all sorts of belittling, stupid names (and my friends and I too for getting them). One day when he thought I was not home, my friend and I spied on him to make sure he really did go out to feed the llamas. Not only did he feed them their regular food, bu brought them a bucket full of fresh vegetables that he bought at the store for them, and spent more than an hour talking to them, and trying to coax the baby llama to folllow him around the pasture!

DH think they are so tough and macho....they are all really softies.

Please do not overdo it. We of course will love to have the bells....but just .... don't over do.

Also, on this note...If you have a way to get the bells there, the likelihood is that someone else may see them and want to know where we got them. Even if it is hanging in my yard friends and family will se them and want to know where I got it. You need to tell us a $$$$ amount to tell people (not what you sold them to us for) that they can buy your bells for or a way to get ahold of you. I will gladly lie and tell people I paid ?....tell me an ammount.... Maybe you could make a few $$$$

New computer here to replace laptop whose logic board suddenly died.....not sure I'll ever catch up on posts, but to those of you wanting quilts for eggs, please PM me and let me know where we are. I've got LOTS of computer/Internet stuff to catch up on and don't want any of you dropping between the cracks!!

They're the friendliest, calmest, most loyal breed of chicken I've EVER raised.

Not very far, really. They jump really well, but they don't fly.

Actually, that cute little peep is still a little peep. I've got 5 of my pair's offspring in a brooder right now, almost fully feathered, and the irony is that the only one with barred wheaten coloring and a male gender like my main stag is the sweetest of them, just like my main stag. Like father like son.

I don't think I'll be going to the show though. . . But for those interested I will have some eggs available soon, and I've already got some chicks, but the chicks I'm letting grow a little older before I sell.

Sounds like you have been hit with the "chicken bug".... Too funny. That was not a dumb chicken....she knew right where to go to find someone who would take care of her. Welcome to the group. Lots of information.

It doesn't matter to me if you tell what the bell cost you. People need to understand that it goes with the times prices need to go up. When in town the other day I checked on getting more cylinders and my cost for them has gone up $30. Due to that it may make them too expensive for most to be interested. However I am sure I can still make them for less than the $300 they sell for in speciality stores. And they will still by custom made to the persons specs.
