Your ex sounds like a mean, angry man. I really feel for your son, and you having to see his hurt. Maybe when he simmers down, he'll change his mind.

Im so sorry, my first husband ( Im with #2 now and he's GREAT) when he left for another state he told me to come and get all of my son's stuff. I had to have someone with me ( he use to use me for boxing practice) so when I saw him all he could say is let him know I'll talk to him later. I told him NO you call him and tell him. My son was in 5 th grade.. He never called, so I told him what was going on and that I was sorry.. I was lucky my son didnt really like his dad. The next year DS had his name changed to my husbands name. It was a wonderful thing for him.. Some men just need to grow up!

But I'll bet she looks pretty!

She does but she was NOT happy. Neither was my DH. Of course, when he comes home, she escapes the towel and goes sprinting across the livingroom.

I am still hashing how to wash the giant snow chicken....he won't fit in the sink...have no wash tub...having a ticked off wet rooster flying around the kitchen sounds scarey!!!

I toyed with loading the Hudson Sprayer with warm slightly soapy water..then decided I will fill the dish pan and just dip his butt..the rest of him is pretty clean as of this minute, and that can change in a heart beat!
Then he will get kenneled.
Who knows ?
He's a guy!
he may love getting his butt washed....

Griswold's are the best and I have flat skillets, fryers, stew pots and dutch ovens.. I think I even have a full set still in box of dutch ovens... have not needed them in a long while.

Does any one know of a great genetics book that won't go too far over a beginners head but isn't at ground zero either? Thanks!

I'm curious about breeding for egg color and how people improve toward standards of breeds.

That's what my Mom always said, but she must have been talking about my younger siblings because I was an angel. And my Dad used to say that teenagers were the reason some animals ate their young.

My dad liked to say that insanity is hereditary. You get it from your children.

What are the circles for? To mark the air sac? Why? I'm inexperienced here.

Yes, because this is essentially my 1st hatch, when they went in to lock down I was kinda paranoid that the air sack wasn't big enough. So I drew that on there and my BIL who has been hatchin' forever came by and checked to see how big they had become. He gave me a thumbs up. We have 2 pips now. So I'll just keep holdin' my breath for a while longer! I'm not tunrin' blue yet!

Cheryl has some of my first and second generation olive eggs.
The dark olive green eggs I sent her are the second generation, they are from Zgoatlady Olive egger eggs, BCM X ameraucanas (I believe) and CR also has 2 of the hens and he calls them crows :lol
Guess one of them is going broody and is nasty mean.
They growl like a cat x dinosaur cross, very funny !

The first generation OE eggs Cheryl got from me are Blue Copper Marans X Blue Ameraucana, and should be a bluer olive egg.
They are in a dark chocolate brown egg.
But will contain a olive egger chick that will lay a bluer green egg.
It is very interesting, that you can wash off the brown on a marans egg, as it is only coated with the brown tint.
The tint is 'applied' to the egg after it is formed, as it travels down the hen's vaginal canal.

The ameraucana however has blue through and through it's egg and imparted into the egg shell as it forms around the ova.
So if the bird is half ameraucana or araucana and half marans, the egg will be formed with blue in the shell itself, then encloses the egg, then passes down the vaginal canal it is coated by the marans brown tint, and comes out olive or a variation of.

It was interesting to me as I clean out the empty hatched shells in the incubator, that the olive egger shells, are very bright blue inside;)
Very pretty, and shows the original color of the egg before it was coated outside on it's way through the vaginal canal.
Cool, huh ?
Cheryl also got some of my blue ameraucana eggs..so she is set for Dark Olive, a bluer olive, and blue eggs.
Then the Wheaten & Blue wheaten ameraucanas have a greener blue egg, almost a teally color.
Well, I am off to the dump and other last minute stuff & packing..and then wash the MOT>
