Yes, that's one of my old girls who has now passed on. Her name was Erin Fay, "Air Erin" we called her. She was a springpole fanatic. (A springpole being a rope tied to a spring the dogs love to run and grab and hang onto). She was 7 years old in the pic on my avatar. Here she is again, different angle of the springpole!

Heard back from Cher Jennings (she's very nice!) and she says that anyone that wants can coop in on SATURDAY as long as they do it before judging starts!!!! YEAH ! I can go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my momma hen has 5 babies, they are around 5 weeks old. yesterday one of them was limping and sitting down a lot. wearing himself out trying to keep up. today he was even more tired and kind of shivery. sooo..I grabbed him and his brother and put them in a crate and brought them in the house. Momma is not to happy....apparently she knows how to count. Anyway I have them in the house, its about 72 in here, do they still need a light if they dont have mom?
I gave them medicated chick started and water, they are in a crate on clean shavings. of course they are not happy but I cant help that part. about all I can do for him is let him rest and heal inside. there is no wound that I can see, I think he got pecked hard or stepped on. I did put his brother in here so he would not be alone, hoping to lessen the stress. any other suggestions?? he is a large english Orpington, bigger than his hatch mates.

I asked in the raising chicks section but got no reply...anyone?

Redreiner.. I think you did right by bringing baby in to watch closely, and bringing a buddy in too. How old are they? I would watch them to see if they are getting chilled and if it looks like it, you can always put a light over them. They can move away from it if they are too warm..

anyone else?

It was me. We got a rescue dog (that had been beaten and starved) about 2 yrs ago that has major anxiety attacks when we leave home w/o him. He digs to get relief. So far I have lost 5 clematis, 3 boxwood, 2 barberry, and 2 spirea. He doesn't just dig them up, he chews the root ball off so that they are dead dead by the time we find them. So I so know what you are going through! We put him in the kennel now with a big bone to help him when we are gone.
I hoping to root some this year so if it's toast I'm hoping to have more later!

Have you tried putting peanut butter inside an old JIF jar and letting them have a go at it while you are gone?
My dogs use to send hours getting every last bit out of the jars that are just a tad too small for them.
