The chicken eggs were won by a young boy (They were donated from me and I hope he gets a great hatch). I was lucky enough to win the duck eggs and am verrrrry excited.

I have them in the bottom of the incubator on there sides. I am hand turning 3x a day (best I can do with work and all). Spritzing once a day and letting them set for 10-15 and cool. I am the most worried about lock down as I have 180+ eggs crammed in the bator and I cannot let the humidity get as high. Maybe this will be my excuse to buy a hatcher??

I have them in the bottom of the incubator on there sides. I am hand turning 3x a day (best I can do with work and all). Spritzing once a day and letting them set for 10-15 and cool. Have you tried putting peanut butter inside an old JIF jar and letting them have a go at it while you are gone?
My dogs use to send hours getting every last bit out of the jars that are just a tad too small for them.
He's a hunting breed so he is almost OCD. That idea is a very good one for him because he doesn't like to be bored.

i know people swear by the carton method, but I will not hatch in one again..
blueducklings-- I would put them on their sides just like chicken eggs, and turn as you would. wthchristi has the idea ... I keep reading differing opinions on turning--hand vs auto...
hopefully someone who has hatched duck eggs and chicken eggs together can pop in and give you words of wisdom on that. But I THINK they will do fine as long as you have been good at misting them like you are. Also.. duck eggs are the only hatching babies I will ever help. Call duck bills are not long enough to zip correctly, and you will want to also keep the membrane moist for them as they are hatching. Some call breeders will even pip for their ducklings if they think it's needed... but I haven't done that myself at this point. Like I was telling blueducklings--this is really only my second year of call babies.. and I haven't hatched any yet this spring! I just read and read and read and asked a lot of questions. Poor Dan and Josh and Cindy! lol!!

I am SOOO excited now! I get to show, and now to hear that there will be all kinds of LF Old English Game breeders there with birds???? Yipppee! Lots to see and do! My birds won't win, but I'll sure learn a lot and maybe get help getting some good stock.
Good advice on the bored dogs... one thing I do (picture little ol me with EIGHT crazy high drive performance bred pit bulls and Tuffie La La the patterdale terrier!) is buy some nice 4" type hollow leg bones (you can find them at PetSmart stuffed or unstuffed) anyway, buy a BIG thing of cheap peanutbutter and spread that in the hollow and FREEZE them. I keep a supply on hand at all times, and like to hand them out when I am leaving, or want a MOMENT of peace. Works like a charm. By freezing it takes the dog longer to get it out. Nice treat in summer too.
I FINALLY have a friend with a hen setting!!!!!!
so just put about 8 eggs under her. Also waiting to hear how my "store bought" eggs are doing down at the local feed store... such an exciting time of year!

Thanks for another good 'bored doggie' idea. We have done bones but not stuffed.
