Illia:
I have the French Cuckoos from a breeder in Calif.
I got eggs from a breeder back east & hatched and english rooster & bred them, all sworn pure bred as far back as forever,
So I hatched over 100 eggs, all cuckoos and most feather legged & toed, and got 2 silvery yellow babies.
What the ?????
So I guessed they were maybe silver buff genes?
But as the babies grow, I see they are splash!!
Long blue-grey splashes on the silvery-yellow chicks.
LOL!!
OK question is:
How did THAT happen when there is no Blue genetics in the Cuckoo Marans ???

Blueducklings if you want duck food then let Scott know. I have his email if you need it. You can get is sent up wtih his run.

Define "splash" - Do you have photos?

Not recent ones, but I will go take a few.
I also wanted to add:
These splash come from the same hen, a lighter than the other dark brown eggs, not much lighter though, but covered in dark brown speckles.
Since I had so many feather shanked & toed babies, I culled the English Rooster 2 weeks ago, still hatching babies though.
I have 1 more setting in lockdown today.
I will get a picture to you in a bit~

Edited to add: Splash, as in a white chick with grey/slate splashes like a Blue Copper Marans splash..exactly like the BluCM splash chicks I have hatched.

Would you ask him to bring a sack of layer feed, please.

And a sack of his starter feed.

Yes I know. After he called I told DW well we may as well go get feed. When we got there Scott ask if we saw him. He said we must have passed right down the road. But I wasn't looking for the CL buss.

Several of us live in the north end. We're having a secret cult meeting next Saturday evening in Redmond. Rainwolf, DIY, Pitterpat Palace, and I live near Northgate.

I thought it was this sat the 26th...
I won't be able to go to this one
