Your silly and picky too!

Actually I'm just chicken fobic and am terrified of anything that resembles a dark shiny rooster with those sharp beaks and big red blobs...and am super afraid of wet chickens...any colour, shiny or not.
But I am being desensitised by you BYC enablers. That being said, I wouldn't touch one with a pole just yet.

They can be behind a secure cage & I can walk near them now...blood pressure slightly raised, but no heart failure yet.
But you'll see me leave the room in a hurry if they chickens are not confined.

Spiders, lizards, creepy crawlies don't bother me a bit. well except for the super fanged crabby crotch bug. That is a whole other topic.

I so need a GOAT!!

You need 2 goats. Goats need a buddy to be happy.

That's because when the goats end up down at the biker bar, then they have a buddy to watch their backs.

My parents had goats when I was very little. I learned that if they could find trouble, then they would find trouble.

My mom got out of the nursing home Wednesday. My uncle and aunt offered to have her stay with them until she can go home. So we are all here together and having fun. Mom is doing better everyday. She has her post-op follow up appt on Monday and Physical Therapy starts in earnest on Tuesday. I'm here a little over another week and get home on April 4th. I'm missing my girls, DH, doggies and chickees something fierce! The girls hatched out another 5 bantam cochin chicks this week. Can't wait to see all the chicks when I get home!

You know, years ago when I was doing my driving test, the tester was scared of bees and one got into my very very small civic 2 mins. into the test.
This tester lady jumped up & down so hard I think she made a dent in the ceiling.
She was screaming & smashing the dashboard with her clip board so violently I think she might have broken the engine.
Well, needless to say, we never left the parking lot & I passed.

Shotweed, not shortweed. It's the one with the little white flowers. If you try to pull it when it has seeds, the seeds shoot all over. I've gotten seeds in my eyes.

I knew what you were referring to. I had always heard the plant called Johnny Jump-ups. But Shotweed made sense to me. I do know it is a pain in the heiney. I don't have as much this year, as I did last year. It really exploded after I brought in some Tagro a few years ago. I have finally gotten rid of most of the weeds from the Tagro.

Tagro created weeds for you? I just returned from my seed planting workshop and they had us plant our seeds in Tagro! I understood it was because it wasn't supposed to bring the weeds in the mix as regular soil from your yard would. I was pretty stoked about it when I found out how inexpensive it was to other potting soils and it already had all the nutrients required for planting. Huh. Well I'll see how these little pots do before I decided to fill my planting boxes with Tagro then.

Mom is going to the nursing home to get her strength back today. When she gets back to the apartment. They'll make a decision about going home. Dad wants to go home very much. Mom not so much but is willing to for him. It means getting a full time care giver. Which is expensive and out of pocket. We'll see.

Hello all, I have been sooooooooo busy...Talked to DH's Mom 2 days ago and asked her to check the meat market sales down there in NorCal to see if they were having any of their meat in the bag sales (like 6 pork sirloins whole, in the bag) and chicken, pork, beef & fish too.
Great sales fresh from the slaughter house, in heavy plastic unopened bags untouched by butchers at the grocery.
She said she'd check and call me back.
The call did not come the next day so I called her.
Got DH's dad..
See Mom had a pacemaker replaced last week.
They had to take the old one out (ouch!) I cannot imagine the pain to cut the wires out of the adhesion tissue, basically scar tissue that forms around ANY surgery, all the way from her cheat to her heart's sinus points.
Yikes!
So all went well, they sent her home, and here it was about 4 days later she is so sore she cannot walk, and getting in & out of bed or on & off the pot is out of the question without help.
So dad got her a wheel chair, and at 79 years old, he is carrying her around, up & down the few stairs, in & out of bed, etc.
So when I called her this day, which was yesterday in fact, Dad said she was so weak and in so much pain they took her to the little rural hospital's ER, where they looked her over, referred to her Big Doc in the city & dispensed pain meds & exercise (PT) instructions to keep working those sore chest & arm muscles.
By 11 PM she was so sore & in so much pain, they took her back to the hopsital & admitted her.
They then consulted the big city doc again, and he ordered tests run, finally, and found her blood badly enemic, she has a massive infection going on & the pericardium around the heart is engorged, inflammed, her kidneys were failing, other organ fuction was "slipping" and alot of the pain seemed to come from a piced nerve somewhere~~~
So, they started the IV, gave her antibiotics and no doubt prednisone....and flew her (we think) or drove her to Santa Rosa (1 hr drive) to St. Joe's Memorial Hospital where at last call at 5 AM, she was in critical condition.
So....DH got his CB hooked up, I packed his drinks, snacks, thermos & clothes, and off he went like the wind.

That's all I have heard so far...DH should arrive at his Dad's in under 12 hrs, and may have an additional 1 hour to Sanra Rosa to the hospital to see his Mom....should be about midnight when he gets there.
And been up since 4:30 with his kids calling in reports & woke us up, so we are tired now..not good looking at a 12 hr drive over the Blizzarding Siskiyous Pass.....
