MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM........mmmmmmmm.....GOOD. Did I mention how much I like the shaggy manes A...#1. I also do the chantrells in the Fall but let's not go there yet.

You guys mustn't get the poisonous false morels out here? In upstate, NY some of my plant science buddies and I would go out after morels and mushrooms. Some unlucky soul always came back with a bunch of false morels thinking they had hit the jackpot.

I like the chicken of the woods. I mean, with a name like that, how can you go wrong?

I do show and I do cull for temperament, too. My rooster comes up and eats from my hand and will let me pet him. He doesn't like being picked up, but most of the girls will let me.

Speckled, silver and now lavender Sussex as well....

Okay what is "light" considered. I see white....but what is lighter than white? I think it is time for me to do some research on the Sussex. RFF keep me in mind.

Now if one of your two birds is called light..why? They were both white, one with the black "collar" and tail, the other more a silver/blue. Which one would have been considered the light? Trying to learn.

I knew a lot about rabbits, I followed dog shows (never showed)....I know that chickens lay eggs and have feathers and taste good BBQd - beyond that....I am starting at the very beginning and learning. Please, everyone, try to be patient with my questions.

If you google Hendersons chicken breed chart and scroll down to sussex, under the chicken drawing are the letters FS for feathersite. Click on that and it will show you a bunch of sussex pics. Sussex can be all white, light(w/ black) and coronation(w/ grey) . There are other colors as well. Have fun looking!

one of these days i want to train a dog to sniff for truffels at fir trees....

my dogs all dig up truffles in my yard. did not train any of them to do it either. once one of them digs up something tasty the others catch right on. they dig up the Oregon truffles.
