OK, locked down 28 game eggs for Diane, about half grays & half blues, or just a little more blues than grays.
Don't know what the birds look like, would love to have her post a photo of them (hint hint!)
Also went into lockdown: a handful of the Ameraucana & handful of OEs.
Meanwhile in the other lockdown bator on the kitchen counter, is piping white rocks, ameraucanas, and OEs.

Redreiner:::: Do peanuts bother you gut at all ?
I have come to the conclusion my recent gut attack that was so profound, it was the WORST I have ever had...was from peanuts that more than likely had to be greatly contaminated with wheat.
Up unril last week, I was wary of all foods, and strict and read all labels...but since this last gut attack, I am scared to eat anything...I have never had a peanut problem, ever.
The nut can said contents were salt, peanuts & canola oil.
I want to get a prescriptiom for something that I can take when I feel an "attack" coming on that will "calm down" the immunal system instead of laying here shaking, chilled & in so much pain for a week...God only knows what damage was done this last time.
Do you take anything ?
I am off to clean the nasty little chickies pens...little boogers.

RFF: Yes, deinitely. I would love to buy them from you. You and I need to get together and talk, or email or phone....I have some questions for you regarding them. Are you going to be selling any eggs? I have been doing a lot of reading up on how to properly incubate. I have a trial run going right now...we will see what we get out. But until I have done a few trial runs with my mixed eggs, I really don't want to put out the money on quality eggs and mess them up.

Now if one of your two birds is called light..why? They were both white, one with the black "collar" and tail, the other more a silver/blue. Which one would have been considered the light? Trying to learn.

Edited : Because I probably sound really illiterate......Sorry I am asking so many questions, that to many, probably sound mundane and trivial or even basicly stupid. I knew a lot about rabbits, I followed dog shows (never showed)....I know that chickens lay eggs and have feathers and taste good BBQd - beyond that....I am starting at the very beginning and learning. Please, everyone, try to be patient with my questions.

Yes I will be selling eggs as well. The Coronation is the lavender highlighted bird and the one with black is called the "Light."

You guys kill me. I would love a Coronation Susses, as I would a Salmon Faverolle, as I would a nice olive egger, wheaten marans, etc. Here I am building my perfectly nice 4X8 coop with 8X12 run, figuring it would be perfect for our little city flock of 8-10 birds. But so many of you have such pretty birds, well bred, nice dispositions, variety of egg colors, etc., you make it difficult when I'm trying to choose one of everything. One of everything does not equal 6-8 birds. How in the world am I supposed to narrow down my choices? Curses to the city, to property restrictions, and size of coop. I do already love our 2 Ameraucana kitchen chickens and am going to love the rest of our forthcoming little flock. Got the girls to eat out of my hand this morning which was nice. Of course we are living together so we've gotten pretty familiar.

Among the daily stresses, I'm glad for all of you. Just wanted to say that. You're a pretty special group of people.

My little wiener dog digs up truffles and brings them to me! I keep the nice firm ones, and give the softer mushier ones back to the dogs. lol We propbably get 3-4 a week here.

See if you can find out what trees they are growing on & try to take a few pictures for me ?
I MUST have some here & would LOVE to dig some & try them.
Some go for hundreds & thousands of dollar a pound!
Have you eaten any ?
How did you prepare them ?

I dont eat them, I sell them to the restraunt I work at for $6-8 each. I will follow Wheazy around the next time we go over to my mothers place, they generally are about 2-3" under the moss. The trees that they are around are around are a mix of cedar, fir, apple and plum. The color varies from dark brown to black, some have a white-ish powdery look, I toss those ones back into the yard. If your not careful it is easy to mistake these little quarter sized truffles for a clod of dirt.

when my crohns first attacked yes they did, all nuts, seeds hard to digest food killed me, and popcorn...I love popcorn...some other foods that killed me were anything in the cabbage family, broccoli etc. and mushrooms. if you google images crohns disease you will see why, but only google if you have a strong stomach. it will show you why those type of foods kill you. once the inside of the gut is healed and there are no open ulcers you can eat those foods again but have to be careful. and you never know when you will have a flare so best not to chance it. Diverticulitis can cause same symptoms too as the ulcers and pockets from that are very similiar.
I maintain on sulfasalazine for now, will not take prednisone ever again but the next step will be biologicals to try and maintain. when in a flare I have been on ciprofaxacin, metronidazole for antibiotics, sulfasalazine, omeprozale and 7 or 8 other drugs to try and get remission.

Hi everyone, just getting the word out that I am downsizing. Thought I would have to eliminate breeds but reducing sizes of flocks instead. I originally thought I needed 2 roos of each breed in case something happened to one of them and gathered enough hens so I didn't have 2 roos on 5 hens. I have decided to get down to 1 roo and 5 hens in ea breed. The work load has been a bit much for me with the landscaping and produce and also want to have time to help my son with a disability get a new horse and start up Pony Club again since that is one thing he does well and is showing interest again. I will be choosing the best of the best to keep but since I breed to the standard the stock for sale will not be inferior and would still be great eggs layers for a backyard flock and breeder quality. Some may have some faults but have qualities that I wanted to incorporate into the breed. I haven't shown my stock yet but buy from great breeders and cull heavily and work towards the standard and plan to show with a few of my breeds soon. All the breeds listed in my signature will be available except the Mille Cochins and Ameraucanas. PM me if you are interested and I can let you know what I have. A roo in each breed except BCM and lots of hens 1 yr and younger.
