MiL update: She was rushed to a cat scan, injected with dye, and pics taken. Films are developing, in the mean time the surgical team closed her temporarily (how nice!) and gave her cumadin...a blood thinner.
Hopefully they find the clot & can remove it before they kill her.
The surgical team working on her at St Joe's is NOT the surgical team or her regular heart doc...they installed the cruddy implant in Burlingame Hospital, So SF......the arse who, her heart doc who put the icky pacemaker in, still has not 'bothered' to show up in Santa Rosa to see her, Dad or help..(isnot that what his private tax write off jet is for ???)
Her old pacemaker battery died years ago, and her doc in Burlingame said she did not need a new one that her heart was nice & strong. Suddenly he changed his mind..we figure for the $$$$$$$.
The surgical team at St Joe's does not think she needs it either, and so it is contaminated they felt a strong reason to remove it before adhesion can attach.
But to do so meant they took her off cumadin to do the surgery, and HELLO! I can tell ya that was a maistake before they did it, after so many sticks, solitary bedridden & dialysis, the woman is full of holes & clots just waiting to happen (as long as she was on coumadin her feet & legs, brusies all over, black & blue....) and so the clot happened.
Blood pressure dropped instantly, alarms going off...surg team got her semi closed and to CT scan, injected dye & took shots to find the clot.
Hopefully no where near a vital organ or process....and in the mean time they say she is once again stabile.
So that is where we are now.
I have been calling my parents after each call from DH to give them an update, and my Dad is so upset he said call me in the morning...he don't wanna know, he was happy to know she is stabile at the moment...

So sorry Chickielady - Hope all ends well. I know for one, ANYTHING involving the hospital is not fun. . . And I mean in the end, when you receive the bill.

I'm afraid that's what we'll have to do at some point, and I don't know how I'll bear that.

My grandmother was a unique case. Generally they are able to give enough medication to reduce or eliminate pain. Her problem was that the side effect of the medication would actually exacerbate her pain further, hence the catch 22.

So I am resisting the strong urge to open the incubator and pull out the broken egg shells... I have 6 that have hatched, when should I open it up and make more space? Should I wait until morning? I dont want to open it and have all the humidity escape, I do have a mist bottle on hand, and will fill it with hot water for when I do remove the lid...
I'm so new. lol

Oh thanks everyone! It must be working cuz they got the icky implanted pacemaker out, and found several tiny clots in her lungs, but the head surgeon said the antibiotics should clear that up, with no pnuemonia or infection...she is stabile, and "resting comfortably".
Hugs to you all

and Thanks.
Phew!!!!!!!!!! We can breathe now.
Yes the Surgeon , her personal doc, who took out the old & put in the new UNEEDED staph covered pacemaker will have to answer to lawsuits if necessary for all of this as he caused it as it was unecessary for her to have a new pacemaker in the first place.
I am sure the insurance co will debate the necessity of this original surgery after seeing her have it removed and not needing it in the first place.
In any event, they have money

and the insurance company has really good lawyers.

And yes Illia, Rachell has an entomology exam.
And why the heck is Illia not in college in entomology herself ???????????????????????????????????? she is a bug genius !!!!!!!!!!
