Im glad that things have calmed down enough to regain some sence of routine. I had to leave the other day as you had me in tears reading the update.

Ok the coloring is so off on him or her, look at its comb is it larger than the others and is it larger in size also than the others? If you need a little roo I have one for you, just let me know. He's out of my roo that I lost a while ago. He's a Wheaten.

This baby is a blue wheaten.
The blue comes in last.

He's actually a little smaller than the others. Comb is bigger, sticks up more, and looks like it has three rows of bumps. Tail feathers are just now starting to come in, and only on the lower sides. Maby I should get pics of the others to compare him too? Could you or someone else, possibly post a pic of what a young wheaton cockeral is supposed to look like?

Completely off topic... But WHY do men ask where you want something installed, and then do the COMPLETE opposite!!!?

If he's not going to install the flood light where I said to, then why even bother to ask where I want it?

Go on the Ameraucana Breeders web site, they have LF & bantam pics of babies & adult fowl.

That baby is a Wheaten, not Blue Wheaten. Blue Wheatens have no black on them whatsoever, as the chick does.

Blue Wheatens feather in with a lot of blue, it doesn't "appear later."

Are these the calico cochins? (I think that is what RFF called them)...gosh they were so cute. I wanted them so bad, but DH and I talked ourselves out of it....but if they had not sold (to someone else) by the end of the day I WAS gonna buy them. Loved them.

That's them! When we first got them, I was not sure I made such a wise choice. The day of the show, the roo would attack me every time I opened the cage! Turns out he is really sweet, just all wound up from the show. The first day home, he hid from us, but now he seems to enjoy being picked up and admired. The hen has always been calm. They are living in an Eglu Cube in my greenhouse, I think they need some more friends to help populate their home, it is rather large for 2 small chickens!

I may be getting some SQ mottled cochins eggs to hatch... keep me in mind. I am trying to get some golden barred cochins

eta: they are bantam cochins

Yeah, but Fred Meyer's won't have the selection. Earth Farm has hundreds of varieties; some very unusual and hard to find. The chances of Fred Meyer's having something like 'Martin's Yellow Surprise' are slim to none. I admit it. I'm a bit of a horticultural snob. I like the rare and unusual.

I like fuchsias on my porch, too.

Anybody want to meet up with me to go raid tthe greenhouse at Lake Wa Tech Institute the friday after the Stevenson show????? They have a fantastic green house sale. Bring that truck and your check book.

Last year I went there bright & early at 9am and came home with my Sion packed I couldn't close the door. This year, I'm bringing our Tundra.
gig.gif

They have fuchias, vegetables, flower baskets, angle's trumpets, perenials, annuals, in six packs, 4 inches, gallon pots etc etc...did I mention veges???? All kinds of peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, lettuces, cabbages, tomato wanabies, and big flowering bush things. All at really reasonable prices.
Anybody??
We can meet there and wait for them to swing open the gates.

OK, I'm bad when it comes to plants...
It is worse than an AA.

Move over duckies, mommy is going to the PLANT SALE.
Oh, and for those of you that like FUCHIAS, the fuchia lady might be having a sale before M's day. I'll go find out.
Rianwolf, your mom says she knows about this one.

You know who has a great plant sale? Not cheap, but they have the BEST rare varieties of perennials and greenhouse plants? The big conservatory and garden in Spokane. Last year I picked up a super nice alocasia there, a neat variety of desert poppy mallow, and a couple new Nepeta varieties. Oh, and a dwarf, double, picoteed oriental poppy.

Yeah Im a big meany with a soft heart! You reminded me of my great grand parents. How my G-Grandmother passed from diabetes, and complications. Then a year to the day later, my G-Grandad left us. So yeah I was bawl'in like a big baby. Poor Chloe kept coming up to me, asking if I was ok.
My Great Grandparents were the glue that held my mothers half of the family together. Things have not been the same sence then. We all still get together, but only once a year at the most.
