WA4Hmom... I think we are done, I have 11 hatched out of 23 and a bator shutoff. 5 of those were blood rings that I tossed the rest were clear. so I am pretty happy about that. I think 2 black and the rest blues

how do you adjust the dang brooder light? have a 100 watt bulb in a heat lamp, its a white one, how far off the brooder floor do you have it hanging to maintain temp? my thermometer seems to be wonky... if I lay it flat it says way over 100, if I prop it up it says like 85...which is it???

I use a couple of carabiners that hook between the lamp and then onto a large cup hook to raise or lower the lamp in my brooder. I have a heat gun that measures the temperature under the lamp. It is possible that the flat surface is warmer than just a bit higher, because of airflow. It is probably close enough on the temps for chicks. They will either spend a lot of time huddled under the light, or they will scatter out because they are warm enough.

I put the one from my bator in there, says 86 (its a digital stand up one) and the babies are all at the edge of the light and laying next to each other or sprawled out looking comfy. I stopped stressing over it and went to bed. they are all fine this morning lol

DH's first wife had NUMEROUS ultrasounds, and there was 1 more baby girl, hiding fully behind the front one, and one was in the 5 pound range and the hiding baby was in the 4 pound range...Twins !

Hi woman_in_shoe,

There have been a few changes to the upload feature here. Not really different, just looks a little diffeent. If your pic are uploaded to BYC then go to the blue bar at the top of the page, Click on uploads. Then Click on All my uploads. You should be able to see your uploaded pics. Just highlight, copy and paste the image code into your post.

I probably will! eventually I would like to sell pairs and trios. I now have all those dog kennel runs...might as well put them to use right??

I know! My poor stomach skin is having a heck of a time keeping up.

I just keep drinking lots of water and slathering on the Burt's Bees Belly Balm!

And no--we checked and checked--no twins! I think part of it is because I'm 5'4" and (was) 135lbs before I got preggo. I'm pretty small boned, too.

DH took me over to Twisp last night for dinner and baby LOVED the Pad Thai! LOL She was going jumping jacks all the way home!

I have a co-worker that is wanting some birds for her young kids to work with in 4-H and something to take to the fair every year. She's still "shopping" but didn't want the LS when I told her they have to be kept clean.

She's very novice and still learning but I suggested Orps and have her a few sites to check out....so maybe she'll be interested.

Ok I went and looked... All the chick photos are day olds, no juvenile pics...

I need to go back and look at the picture again, almost wonder if its a pullet with off color could be does it have any feathers on the chest yet? If so what color. You can also go to the Wheaten thread and post a picture there, bet they could help you...
