I have had a very similar experience. I just figure that it just makes us tougher.

Well I guess it's time for me to head off to my perch.

The good news is, DH installed a new keyboard in my lap top today, and I must say that I am deeply impressed by how well it works.

The bad news is that I don't have any baby chickens.

I should have had baby chickens yesterday.

I am going to have to explain things to the ladies tomorrow.

You didn't feed them from your fork....how could you not ? LOl. My middle son was horrified one day when I made scrambled eggs for the hens to eat. He thought that was just wrong. I informed him that quite a few species would eat their young.....then I turned and gave him an evil smile.....He told me I was just wrong.

Whether free ranging or in the run, we cannot go through the back door without everyone trying to get at us...they are spoiled rotten. But I like having friendly hens. I was turning the dirt in my garden last weekend trying to get it ready to plant....I had 3 or 4 hens all around me as they figured it out that as I turned dirt....worms appeared. I think there are some worms left in my garden....but they all did a pretty good job of eating everything they could find. Now, I get out a shovel or rake and I get a couple of hens running over to me. Such moochers.

Two of them are seramas- the other is Solo and she is a mille fleur cochin

I will tell you much as you wanna know about the seramas

mine do fine here- I did use a light on the smaller ones this last winter during the snows and if the temp dropped into the teens. If you have a coop/hutch that they can get into that is protected from the weather, they would do fine. I had a frizzle that was TINY and the little silkie girl I worried they couldn't stay warm enough during those cold spells, and they are the main reason I turned a light on in their hutch. There's folks all over the place that have them, including some pretty bad weather areas. So if you really wanted them I know you could make it work

Thank you so much. I will go and look. My DD really liked them. She likes the way that the Roos look...Straight up, chest out. They look like they are full of themselves. Are yours the bantams?

Wait....are you saying she is 8 weeks old - NO she is not sexually mature. But how hold is he? He may be sexually mature or he could be starting to mature and have interest. He could hurt her.

Just had to pop in for a quick announcememt (sp?) that yesterday we met up with Broody and picked up the VERY NICE business cards she made for me.JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THEM THEY ARE SOOOO AWESOME and so is BROODY for doing this for me. Thank you Shannon !!

I also am getting final details from Laurieks for her bell to go to ARE YOU READY FOR THIS CALIFORNIA !!!

OK gotta go get DW up and going for the day and then get ready as Tiff's broody is coming today to pickup her bell !!

So now I will only have7 of them hanging in my yard. But hopefully after the show mine will be the only one left.

Seramas only come in bantam they are actually smaller -- they are cutenesses.
